As AI becomes more capable, the only law it will really have to obey is the law of physics. -- to me that's a powerful argument: AI specifications will mutate and evolve and we shouldn't really expect any fundamental constants. The only reasonable assumption we can make is that these systems, being really capable, will be able to reason from "first principles" with impressive accuracy and efficiency.

You have to actively delete a regulation or a law, the way things are set up in most laws. Some laws have sunset provisions. And the problem with that is you get vested interests who like that law. And there's an inertia around it. And so, over time, the body of laws and regulations grows and grows and grows. It is something that I think is not ultimately good for society.
