The language of the nobodies and the stars is also deeply disturbing. That all could have been said without demeaning. Plus, why do these conversations happen without the bulk of it being about the system, the "business" that allows these systems?

Minnie's profile picture
Minnie6 months ago

I don’t think her intention is to be demeaning but pointing it out exactly as the industry sees it point blank. She’s criticising said system, it’s impossible to change something so deeply enmeshed in rot but you can make people aware.

Tonya Horton's profile picture

@ikemensexxxy She’s not criticizing the system. She’s criticizing that these outlets don’t get more time with the “stars”. She’s criticizing literally said whoever come a first is a “loser”. She’s not mad at the system she’s mad they don’t get access to stars. She’s actually disgusting.

Minnie's profile picture

@ikemensexxxy If you listen to the full interview she starts out by pointing out the system is broken, this is just a partial clip explaining the semantics involving stars. This is how the industry works and the exact verbatim used, hope this helps!

They need to start lieing about when the carpet ends idk cause these stars seem to be avoiding the media like the plague otherwise.

Minnie's profile picture

With some of these reporters and some of these questions asked, I don’t blame them for not being overly eager to do press.

Literally what I was thinking as I was typing. If there were more journalists interested in asking questions about their work, instead of sensationalism than maybe 🤷🏽‍♀️ but the industry thrives on it. It's a double edged sword.

i think this clip is so interesting but it irks me that people fixate on her saying “nobodies” when she corrected herself directly after and was trying to show how the ppl the public pays attention too are the people that they get to interview the least!

I think the media outlets need to realize their part in this & they are part of the reason why celebs don’t want to talk to them. They want sound bites & headlines, rarely ask intelligent questions about their work. They have to improve their reputations to make it worth it too

The way she's talking about the non-stars is deeply broken. What a bunch of shallow trash. Worshipping celebrities is mental illness.

This most definitely stems from influencers and social media stars being made famous and being invited to the same events. Back then everyone invited were legit stars, A&B list celebrities. I literally see red carpets now and ask “why are THEY there” 🥴

Stars can do their own Insta's, TikToks, etc. They don't need ET Access Hollywood etc in the way they did in the past. The snobby attitude here about the 13th cheerleader from the right on Glee is also part of the problem. Let it all go away. We're fine.

Easy solution is to just not do red carpet interviews. They always suck anyways, same as those sit in a chair and we pass 30 different outlets by you. Asking questions like do you think your character would like Dubai chocolate and Labubu?

B's profile picture
B6 months ago

I think the problem is the amount of “influencers” who get invited because they know someone. Of course an A list celeb is gonna wait until they’ve all cleared off before they step foot out there.

i get its an example but 1 hour total for red carpet/press is wild to me lol! but was the ‘mega stars’ arriving last not always the norm or is everyone suddenly getting worse (15 min?!) trying to have their ‘rihanna last to arrive to the MET’/‘cinderella leaving the ball’ moment

@diamonde This was so ineloquent! These publications have the ability to make stars and they’re too uncreative to see the potential in the “losers” who could make them rich! They deserve to lose the money

@iH8Meccavellii everyone being obtuse in the comments when she corrected herself- she’s right yall are not tuning in for random people. I think thy should start penalizing the stars for doing this. Ask cheerleader on the right questions about the show - there won’t be a rehearsed answer.

Tbh, I don’t take offence at how she talks about the other people at these events. Calling them “nobodies”, it’s mean. Yes. But I get it. She’s being honest, and way nicer than someone who’s been standing for 5 hours would be. A lot of social media stars and influencers show up and inflate their importance. They cause scenes, complain about being rushed, and act like the night revolves around them. They were invited by a brand, or a friend who knows a friend. The event isn’t about them. The press isn’t there for influencers. They’re there for the stars, people like Zendaya, because they are the event. They’re what sells, what gets published, what people actually care about. From the perspective of someone working for a major publications, time matters. You’re not there to waste it on viral moments or internet personalities. You’re there to get that photo, get that interview. If you are not the main event, take your photo, answer the question, leave a good impression… and keep it moving.

There's not enough meat on the bone because nobody gives a fuck about celebrity anymore, and it doesn't mean what it used to mean 10 years ago. And that's because the veil has been lifted and more attention is on those “nobodies” / people from TikTok. And the best thing to do really is pairing actual those nobodies/people with A-listers (who’s egos don’t understand why they have to share the spotlight) just kind of work well on TikTok. That's just, that just is it. There's a new era. And every single day, the concept of celebrity is just bit by bit deteriorating

This is quite interesting b/c as the comments have pointed out, these celebs can be quite unprofessional, entitled, & divas. But the media also plays a role b/c they can ask some of the most asinine questions. As such, celebs mite intentionally be late to avoid them.

Then maybe everyone should just stop doing the red carpet thing. Just let the celebrities enter the program without any fuss. Things will maybe change when all this hullabaloo stops.

It’s a combination of years or poor reporting/journalism on their part and the increasing number of non-journalists/interviewers on the carpet I feel like there is no incentive for stars or anyone to go on time. If it’s weird question after weird question plus TikTok trends

Maybe don't invite the tiktokers & the extras and strictly book the actors. Since that's what everyone did this for. I just don't understand having influencers on a red carpet for a film they're not or are barely in.

Sorry not sorry. In the same clip where she accuses the “stars” of disrespecting the time of journalists and paparazzi, she goes on to call those who RESPECT their time as “losers” and “people”. Nigga, if I was a celeb, I’d disrespect your time too.

There's one easy solution, it just takes a celebrity with a little bit of courage. One celebrity needs to come early, and suddenly they get the Lion's share of interviewers who are desperate to interview them and they can pick and choose what outlet they want to talk to.
