As a junior officer, being a piper, used to fall in with the Pipes & Drums for parades. Having crept up the ranks, & finding myself leading large bodies of men from an exposed position at the front, I was grateful to right markers for 'advice' spoken through clenched teeth!

Why do we still march . What is the point?

To get a body of men from one point to another in a smart orderly manner. If this is the acceptable standard of marching now, then I agree why do it. However, doing it and badly is not on!
