When the Federal Court first ruled that the use of the emergencies act violated the Charter, the act of freezing non criminal Canadians bank accounts & credit cards was considered one of those violations. Here’s Freeland’s response to it. She stood by her decision then and when the court ruled it was a violation of the charter. Is this not an admission of guilt? Her reasoning was that Canadians were under threat, no they weren’t, our Government’s continued overreach was under threat.

The Government decided to appeal this decision and police have continued to arrest people who have peacefully opposed the ban. Amnesty International has intervened in this case because the Palestine Action ban was a grave misuse by the government of sweeping counter terror powers.

The Federal Court of Appeal’s decision last week to uphold the lower court’s ruling that the use of the Emergencies Act was illegal. It confirms what I said during the debate back in 2022. The Liberals’ invocation of the Emergencies Act was nothing more than a power grab by Trudeau and his Liberals. When this Liberal government divides people and violates their freedoms of thought, belief, opinion and expression, it loses. A Conservative Government will ensure the Emergencies Act can never be used again to silence political opposition.
