On Top of the Pops in 1994, Inspiral Carpets featuring Mark E. Smith brought “I Want You” to a national audience in a gloriously chaotic performance. Released that year on Devil Hopping, the single reached the UK Top 20 and marked a punchy return with the Fall legend on vocals. Rooted in their Madchester beginnings but sharpened for the mid-90s, the track captures a band bridging scenes as Britpop took hold.

Released during a more restrained period for the band, Oasis brought “Force Of Nature” to Top of the Pops with Noel Gallagher taking lead vocals instead of Liam. Taken from Heathen Chemistry, the song reflected the rougher and more direct sound Oasis embraced in the early 2000s after the excess of the Be Here Now era.

Originally released as a standalone single in 1991, "Pregnant for the Last Time" never appeared on one of Morrissey's studio albums, making it something of a hidden gem in his catalogue. Its playful title masked a characteristically sharp and bittersweet look at changing relationships, while the song reflected the confidence of his early solo years. This Top of the Pops appearance captures Morrissey during a prolific period as he continued to carve out an identity beyond The Smiths.
