When I studied clinical trials ; we were given an article each week as homework. We were required to find clever manipulation because it was a published and cited article but we were taught to tear out the clever « errors ». That was when I was a resident. I have seen thousands of articles like that in your Lancets.

Even in engineering, physics, or math, broader institutional pressures (funding requirements, DEI statements, or social-issue editorials) have increased over time, and sub-areas touching policy or human behavior can show more activism. However, the incentive structure—real-world testing, industry ties, and falsifiability—keeps core journals more objective than fields where the Left has completed its march through the institutions.

I remember telling a new PA student of the f lo awed studies in Lancet. She doubted a prestigious journal as such, would have bad data. I hope she is well.
