Then he reached back in, pulled out a black garbage bag, and brought it over. Inside was a modern prosthetic leg fitted with a military boot. The veteran put it on and stood up on his own. The whole thing was a setup. The punchline was watching him walk away without the crutches.

He prayed at the historic church and thanked God for the courageous Christian witness of the Armenian people throughout history, often in the face of tragedy. During his remarks Pope Leo sent greetings to His Holiness Karekin II and expressed gratitude for the growing bonds between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Catholic Church, calling for renewed efforts toward unity.
