This is what you need to know. You’ve been told to follow the rules, but the world has always been shaped by those who think beyond them. Plato reminds us in Phaedo that there’s more to life than meets the eye—the unseen truths, the eternal questions about the soul and its purpose. In Symposium, he goes further, showing that love—whether of knowledge, beauty, or truth—is the driving force behind all meaningful connection and progress. But the modern world has moved far from Plato’s ideals. As Heidegger warns in Discourse on Thinking, we’ve become trapped in patterns of shallow thought, ignoring the essence of what it means to truly live and think. Instead, we’ve adopted a playbook closer to Machiavelli’s The Prince, where power is everything, and morality is negotiable—if not entirely disposable. This might seem bleak, but Bastiat’s The Law reminds us there’s a higher standard. The purpose of law isn’t control but the protection of liberty. Yet, too often, law becomes a tool of oppression, a weapon for those in power to maintain their grip. Sun Tzu’s Art of War teaches us to understand and outmaneuver such forces—whether on the battlefield or in everyday struggles. And the consequences of ignoring these lessons are clear. In Where the Domino Fell, we see how blind ideology, bureaucratic inertia, and unchecked ambition led to the tragedy of Vietnam—a modern example of how systems fail and lives are lost when wisdom is cast aside. This isn’t new. Cicero, writing centuries ago, called for justice and integrity in governance, urging leaders to prioritize the common good. Marcus Aurelius, in The Emperor’s Handbook, exemplified this, offering a Stoic vision of leadership rooted in discipline, self-awareness, and service to others. Yet here we are. We live in a world dominated by a system Ron Paul criticizes in End the Fed. Central banking, endless debt, and the manipulation of economies serve as the latest iteration of control—one more way the “real assholes,” as you put it, do whatever it takes to maintain their power, no matter the cost. So, what do we do? Calm is necessary, but not complacency. As history shows, this has all happened before. The question isn’t whether the cycle will continue—it’s whether we’ll be the ones to break it. Start thinking. Start acting. And don’t let them tell you what you’re supposed to be doing.

Probably the best summary that I have ever seen. My only question, focus on the gumball machine or stay diversified? My gut is saying gumball.
