ENGINEERING STUDENTS PROTEST IN PUNE 2nd year students of #PuneUniversity staged a huge protest against end semester exams. The #students claim that only 4 days have been given to prepare for the exams which is not enough and demand exams to be postponed.

I am a graduate from #PuneUniversity and have the first hand experience of last minute date changes and what not. I feel there is a dire need of either scrapping the management or educating the management. The day is not far, when this university will loose its all credibility!!!

However, we have received information from students that their exams are scheduled for the 5th March. Some students have already arrived in India, so it is not possible for them to return. The current situation is very tense, and their parents are also very worried... We've even written a letter to the Prime Minister, regarding this, so that the exams can be postponed in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, and every university can be informed that their exams should be postponed so that the students can easily return..."

DU students allege that professors were appointed a month after the commencement of the semester due to which the syllabus is pending and exam forms have been issued 10 days before the exams starting on December 26, which have several flaws. The students’ unions of all three law faculties, CLC, LC1 and LC2, urged the deans to extend the exam dates but the deans stuck to the pre-scheduled dates. Yesterday on December 16, a protest was started by the students which continued throughout the day and it was peaceful, but the Dean deployed Delhi Police and CRPF to remove the students from the faculty, due to which there was chaos between the law students and the police and the matter became serious. The DU administration issued a notification stating that "The Date Sheet relating to LL.B. I/III/V Term December/January, 2024 Examination scheduled from 26th December, 2024 is put-on hold." However, the students remained adamant on their demand to postpone the examination schedule. Later, the police broke the entry gates of the campus and started lathicharge in which some students were injured. It is a matter of concern that law students were treated like rioters.
