He was on set for half a day, and filmed all of his shots in one take. This song is one Glen Campbells most haunting and long loved hits! It was written by Jimmy Webb, who also penned other hit songs for Glen - "By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” and “Galveston'. Webb wrote "Wichita Lineman" in response to Campbell's urgent phone request for a "place"-based or "geographical" song to follow up "By the Time I Get to Phoenix". The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000. While other's have recorded this song, I can't imagine anyone else's voice singing it but Mr Campbells. Can you?
