Was he filling that with a bike pump? Normal air compressors responsible for filling air tanks will filter the air. This not only includes intake filters and purification, but oil and air separation. I wouldn't want to be breathing that air for any duration of time.

How much air does it hold? I really like how there is no visible guage while you are diving, so when you run out of air, it just comes as a surprise.
