Enjoyed this interview with Chris Lattner Software engineering isn't going anywhere, and we need more engineers wanting to become masters of their craft. AI coding tools can increase your enjoyment by removing the drudge work. They don't replace your thinking.

AI coding without systems thinking is just tech debt on speedrun. Delty (@delty_ai) is an AI Staff Engineer for your team. With deep expertise, it designs software systems, evaluates tradeoffs and makes AI coding agents smarter with your engineering context. Congrats on the launch, Lalit Kundu and Catherine!

The SaaSpocalypse narrative is starting to make less and less sense. Software companies like $PLTR, $NOW, and $CRM are getting punished because investors believe AI will replace SaaS. Jensen Huang disagrees. “Claude can write software.” That’s true. But Jensen argues that enterprises aren’t going to build their own software. They’re going to deploy AI agents that use software tools to get work done. “Agents won’t replace tools. Agents will use tools.” NVIDIA is already seeing this happen. According to Jensen, the company has deployed so many AI agents that tool usage is actually increasing. That’s the exact opposite of the SaaSpocalypse thesis.

"We used to own things. Not anymore." "You don't own your songs, your software, your tools. You rent your life, you pay to borrow. And the second they want to—click, gone." "Your playlist, erased. Your car, disabled. Your apps, locked." "This isn't a mistake, it's design. Because when you don't own anything... they own you."

Will AI replace software engineers? Actually, no. The Self-Writing Internet will create MORE tech jobs. It will empower 8 billion non-technical people to become prompt engineers and tech entrepreneurs, while generating millions of new apps that need professional human developers.

You probably know Chris Lattner built the foundation of the software we all use today. Well now Chris is concerned: AI might create a whole cohort of coders that don't understand how to built software that lasts. Watch the full video to be sure you don't end up one of them:

A masterclass from Jeremy Howard on why AI coding tools can be a trap -- and what 45 years of programming taught him that most vibe coders will never learn. - AI coding tools exploit gambling psychology - The difference between typing code and software engineering - Enterprise coding AND prompt-only vibe coding are "inhumane" i.e. disconnecting humans from understanding-building - AI tools remove the "desirable difficulty" you need to build deep mental models. Out on MLST now!

Stripe's John Collison thinks people who think AI means the death of software engineering are "all high, honestly." "All these people calling the death of software engineering are smoking something." "You're able to work with AI so much better if you understand the underlying concepts, and you're so much better prepared for that." "To be really effective working with AI, you need to understand what it's doing, and what's going on under the hood. You need to understand the model, and the memory. And then you have your harnesses, and you've got your skills, and how they all interact."

Coding agents are no longer a distant idea—they're already starting to reshape how we work. YC's Tom Blomfield (Tom Blomfield) and David Lieb (David Lieb) discuss how AI coding tools are transforming software development, why small, high-agency teams will be able to do what once took armies of engineers, and why there's never been a better time to start something new. They explore the bigger picture too: a future where there's more abundance, knowledge work becomes more accessible, and founders have more leverage than ever before. If you're thinking about building, there's no better moment than right now. 0:00 - Intro 0:46 - The combine harvester argument for AI 02:23 - Building with no-code tools 5:37 - The arguments against AI coding 7:01 - Jevons Paradox 9:26 - What happens to the software jobs of today? 12:16 - How will these tools affect knowledge work? 15:08 - An abundant future 16:21 - Advice for future founders

Traditional coding benchmarks do not reflect how software is actually built and maintained. That's why we built a new benchmark, APEX-SWE, in partnership with Cognition. It measures whether AI models can perform complex, real-world software engineering work to ship systems that work and debug them when they don't. OpenAI GPT 5.3 Codex (High) tops the leaderboard at 41.5% on Pass@1.

The SaaS stack is breaking. Marketing. CRM. Sales. Support. Every new problem = another subscription. This Product Hunt launch is betting on a different future. One AI. Every department. Instead of adding AI to your tools... replace the tools with AI. Feels like we're moving from AI copilots... to AI operating businesses. If this works, "software stack" might become an outdated concept.

Dynamic Software Interfaces Ankit Gupta Before AI, every user of a piece of software got the same interface. Coding agents are now good enough to let users become their own forward-deployed engineers. We think software companies will soon ship shared primitives with the full expectation that users will radically customize the final product themselves.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang just called the idea of AI replacing software engineers "complete nonsense" "The number of software engineers is actually increasing... if you can hire a software engineer and generate $9 trillion worth of productive work, why wouldn't you want to hire more? If that line were flat, then obviously people would hire fewer software engineers. But because the output is so incredible, people want to hire more This is going to show up in our economy somehow, soon. Useful AI has arrived"
