Thomas Massie took to the House floor and named 14 people he described as Jeffrey Epstein co-conspirators who he says should be investigated and prosecuted. He also launched the next phase of his fight to force transparency: the Epstein Files Transparency Act II. Massie says more than 3 million Epstein-related records that should be public are still being unlawfully withheld while documents the DOJ has released remain heavily and improperly redacted. The Epstein Files Transparency Act II would let survivors, state attorneys general, local prosecutors, and members of Congress challenge DOJ in court over records they believe are being withheld or censored. Survivors could seek their own unredacted files, including relevant FBI FD-302 interview reports. State and local prosecutors could also obtain unredacted federal records needed to pursue cases under state law. Massie, Ro Khanna, and Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández have launched a new discharge effort to force the bill forward. They need 218 House signatures to bypass leadership and bring the legislation to a floor vote.
