If there is a will… there is a way Columbia University students who have barricaded themselves in Hamilton Hall as part of a larger Pro-Palestine sit-in protest, have devised a system of buckets and rope to re-up supplies. Columbia has promised to expel all students who are “illegally occupying” the building. NYPD is on standby waiting for the go-ahead from the University to forcibly remove the students if necessary. I raised my concerns today regarding free speech on our university campuses. 🏛️ Whether it's Zionist views, gender-critical perspectives or climate scepticism, there is a demonstrable two-tier approach to free speech playing out across our higher education institutions and it is students who are bearing the brunt of it. The Higher Education Freedom of Speech Act was passed precisely to give students the right to bring complaints to the Office for Students. I posed this to the Minister today and I do not believe his response was correct. It is, after all, called the Office for Students, not the Office for Everyone on Campus Except Students. The Free Speech Union

University students outraged by... Coca Cola Watch this video of university students at the University of Sydney who have become outraged after spotting Coca Cola on campus. While it's tempting to just mock them because it really is quite funny, there is a serious side to it. Th education system has clearly failed these students. They appear very much unprepared for the world. They are going to be confronted by lots of Coca Cola and other scary things in their lives and they appear to have no coping skills. If there is this much time to whinge over things like this than clearly the courses they are taking are not rigorous enough. All in all, the video reflects quite poorly on the University of Sydney and its students.
