As the press are reporting the UK is now begging France again to lend them some warships, here are just a few of the most recent Royal Navy ships to be decommissioned. No one in successive Governments thought it would be a good idea to replace them.

Labour KNEW the UK-France ‘One-In, One-Out’ Treaty was over before it even started. On 4th Aug 2025, the Gov stated "anyone who tries to re-enter the UK having already been returned to France once will be returned again as a matter of priority." A huge moment in Birmingham just now as Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage and National Rally President Jordan Bardella have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the main stage of the Reform UK 2026 National Conference in Birmingham to put an end to the illegal migration crisis in both countries. The move comes after Reform UK Shadow Home Secretary Zia Yusuf pledged that a Reform UK government would stop the boats within 100 days of a Reform UK government. The document includes a commitment by Bardella that a National Rally-led French government would accept the return of illegal migrants which have launched from French shores, entered British territorial waters and were returned to France, as per the approach set out in Reform UK’s Operation Fortress. Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage MP said: “This is a momentous agreement and shows that both Reform UK and the National Rally are serious about stopping the illegal migrant invasion, fixing our borders, and putting our own people first.”

In Calais we speak to some of the thousands of migrants hoping to cross on small boats from northern France into the UK - risking their lives in the process. More than 20,000 people have crossed the Channel in small boats so far this year. The Government has promised to tackle the smuggling gangs behind the dangerous journeys. France and the UK are jointly funding police operations along the French coast and both countries are considering a "one in, one out" deal and allowing French officers to venture further from the shoreline to stop boats from leaving. That may be revealed when President Macron visits London next week.

The Home Office has confirmed to Good Morning Britain that a channel migrant who was sent back to France as part of the 'one in, one out deal', has already returned to the UK via a small boat. The Government also said that anyone who was removed and made the crossing again would be detained and returned to France. Richard Gaisford reports.
