Escalating sword strikes

This reminds me that I think we don’t realise how horrifying most ancient battlefield deaths would have been. Like usually it wasn’t an instant death blow, it was debilitating injury that would cause the man to die slowly over multiple hours, drowning in his own blood with his insides oozing out in the mud. War is so much more horrifying than we comprehend.
