A pyroclastic flow is a fast-moving current of volcanic material that can be extremely destructive. It consists of a mixture of hot gases, ash, and volcanic rocks that are expelled during explosive volcanic eruptions. These flows can reach temperatures of up to 1,000°C (1,800°F) and travel at speeds exceeding 100 km/h (62 mph), which makes them capable of devastating everything in their path. Pyroclastic flows are particularly dangerous due to their speed, high temperature, and the fact that they can quickly bury and incinerate areas close to the volcano. They are one of the most hazardous volcanic phenomena.
