REMINDER: Beginning on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, Texas’ Vehicle Safety Inspection Program will eliminate most vehicle safety inspections. All non-commercial vehicles will no longer need a vehicle safety inspection prior to being registered in Texas. A few things to keep in mind: ◾All non-commercial vehicles in the state will be subject to a $7.50 inspection program replacement fee. This fee will be added to your total when you register your vehicle with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. ◾A select number of counties will still require emissions tests, which drivers will need to complete prior to their vehicle registration. Under the Highway Traffic Act, Ontario Regulation 389/19: Pilot Project – Electric Kick-Scooters, municipalities must opt-in by passing a local by-law to allow e-scooters on their roads. Make sure you’re aware of the following before riding an e-scooter: • You must be 16 or older to operate an e-scooter, where permitted. • If 16 or 17 years-old, you must wear a helmet. • E-scooters can travel at a maximum of 24 km/h – it’s not lawful for them to travel faster than that. Big news concerning operational changes at Giga Texas including a push for more public venues & options for direct vehicle delivery from the factory. A few key highlights: Customer direct vehicle deliveries have already been happening at a small level from Giga Texas for a few months ... this also includes the 1st fully autonomous delivery across Austin A new customer direct delivery center (essentially a sales center) is being added on the N end of the W End-of-Line (EOL) facility ... this will be open to the public & will be used for customers who opt for this instead of autonomous delivery to their house Customers will be able to take delivery & complete all paperwork to take possession of their new car at this location New road access is currently being added on the NW corner of the out bound lot, & the N-S road that connects to Tesla Road on the N & River Road on the S will allow customer access to this location This recent decision changed the original plans for a new Welcome Center near Tesla Road ... it will now be constructed in the large plot of land just N of the EOL & use the new public road access as well Discussions continue about the potential second Boring Company tunnel for Model Y transit from the factory to the EOL facility. This debate is ongoing, but I think we will see a tunnel at some point.

This pistachio tree (Pistacia atlantica) is reputed to be the oldest tree in Cyprus at about 1,500 years of age, and was recognised as such in 2004 by being given protected status by the Cyprus Department of Forests. However, it is under threat from an adjacent road construction project, with no obvious protection from excavation harm. If it dies because of these works, it will be the loss of an irreplaceable natural heritage asset, and makes its government protected status a mockery.
