Especially when faith in God seems to be under attack everywhere, it’s far better to defend fellow believers than cast off heretics The “Mormons aren’t Christians” argument reminds me of this JokeToons video, which makes the point well by channeling comedian Emo Phillips

@JokeToons The most substantiative debate subject of our time, succinctly captured.

@JokeToons Thank you!

@JokeToons I saw that argument all over the place on Sunday and it’s absolutely ridiculous

@JokeToons Absurd

Mormonism is outside orthodoxy because it denies the biblical doctrine of God, teaching that the Father was once a man who became a god. It redefines Jesus as a created being, the spirit brother of Lucifer, rather than the eternal Son of God. It adds works, ordinances, and temple rituals to the gospel, rejecting justification by grace alone through faith alone. It elevates extra-biblical revelation above Scripture, placing Mormonism in the category of a different religion, not a Christian denomination.

@JokeToons I just think it's weird that they chose the day a Mormon church was attacked to come out with "Mormons aren't Christians." My response? My allies in this fight we are in to save America and the entire western world were just attacked! Their religious differences are irrelevant!

@UngaTheGreat @JokeToons 💯💯

@JokeToons This shows the religious rights dilemma perfectly. Constant purity tests. It’s what drives many people away. Live your faith, and let your own life be the canvass unto the Lord🙏🏻

Mike, I was raised Catholic (in England), and LDS was always treated with skepticism and, to an extent, ridicule. But why would any Christian alienate another Christian, especially when they are under attack. No matter our differences, shouldn't we stick together in the face of such atrocities

@JokeToons Emo is brilliant at illustrating the absurdity of man

@JokeToons 💯

It is not mutually exclusive to defend our theology and to also agree that LDS are allies in the culture war and that we empathize with them greatly. It is not kind or tactful to call them heretics during a crisis when unprovoked. However, when the point is made by LDS members publicly that they believe the same as all other Christ followers, Christians have a responsibility to speak up if they disagree.

@JokeToons Mike, I'm still upset about your people. As a little girl, growing up, going to Sunday School, I never dreamed I would be afraid to take my kids to worship because I might be killed or burned alive. In America. Our country is so over.

@JokeToons It’s a frightening realization that arises in moments like these

Now is the time to put aside fear. I am not a Latter Day Saint, just as I am not Jewish, or a bunch of other Christian religions. I am a Christian. Even though it’s scary, now is the time we need to put on the armor of God, stand firm and face our fears. Either this or lose our legal ability to be Christians. and lose the only Christian nation left. Violence is never the answer. Love is the answer. The big question is something that Charlie Kirk seemed to be able to address: how to change the violence and people’s hearts to love. I am so sorry your church has been singled out to be attacked. If I’m not mistaken, Christ told us to educate people not kill them. Apparently, there are people in the world who have forgotten that. Sorry. Sometimes I ramble.

@kneis816 @JokeToons Thank you

@Shemcray2 @JokeToons Some on the “Christian” right really let me down yesterday. I have been with them all the way until now. It appears they will apparently turn on me when the time is right. I’m disappointed. 😔

@JokeToons I have little desire to debate theology. Action must be taken to stop anti- White, anti- Christian, and anti-American organizations within the country. This will keep happening until drastic action is taken.

@JokeToons The Mormon church is not a legitimate Christian Church. None of its teachings can be found in the New testament nor the early church fathers and their writings nor in the Creed nor in the councils of the first millennia. The Mormon church is a legitimately heretical.

@JokeToons That is spot on. I am an old person. I never knew there were so many Christianity details to argue over until I came to X. We all worship the same God.

@JokeToons Amen , this hate for the LDS community is awful and absolutely disgraceful from so called Christian’s.

@JokeToons Do you believe the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to be One God?

America LOVES you, Mike, but you are NOT Christians. All the posts and cartoons won't change this fact. God says it, not us! If you were Christians, you would CHOOSE God, not be "grandfathered in". 1) Mormonism was founded nearly 1,800 years after the Bible was completed. 2)Isaiah 43:10: "Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me." Mormon theology teaches that God the Father was once a man who achieved his divine status and that humans can follow a similar path to become gods. For traditional Christians, this contradicts the Bible's teaching that God is eternal. 3) John 4:24: "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." 4)Mormon scripture states that God the Father and Jesus Christ have glorified physical bodies of flesh and bone. 5) No, Jesus & Satan were NOT brothers ...... 6) No, you do not get a planet if you are married after you die. We love you and so does God, he is vying for your attention. Shooting, death, shooting..... Repent, and believe on the true, triune God who died for you....

@JokeToons Mormons are not Christians.

@JokeToons A terrible analogy. That's how to say you're not a Christian without saying you're not a Christian. (Or that you know very little about your doctrine, if you are one.)

@JokeToons I'm a "feet on the ground" kind of Christian. I don't get into theological nuances that divide denominations; I just recognize certain "truths" work in life. Mormons are great neighbors and they love Christ. Conversation ends there for me. Christian.

@JokeToons Mormons are peaceful and loving people for the most part and are not deserving of violence towards them. That said, using a tragedy to try and mainstream their extra-biblical ideology as Christianity in the historical context is disingenuous. Jesus claimed to be God, period.

@JokeToons This is exactly where we’re at.

@JokeToons 👍🏼

@GuntherEagleman @JokeToons My question for you is do you agree with Voddie on this?

@JokeToons Most of the New Testament is spent defining what a Christian is, and most of the surviving writings of the early church fathers were dispelling various heresies. Sorry, but if Christianity is what it claims to be, that definition is of the utmost importance.

@SteveLovesAmmo @JokeToons I would debate but not appropriate at this time. You cannot explain away Rev. 22:18 I heard the explanations from a family member. The Bible is clear

@JokeToons The differences are essential, not trivial. I respect Senator Lee and several Mormon conservatives, but Mormonism doesn't align with biblical Christianity. Attached is a list reflecting core differences.

@JokeToons You can no more be a Christian without defining Christianity than you can be a woman without defining humanity.

@JokeToons To be a Christian means to strive to be like Christ in word and deed. Many people on here are NOT being Christlike/Christian.

@JokeToons I am extremely confident that I don't understand the fullness of God's Will. I am also quite aware of the temptation to condemn others for their lack of understanding. Lord, save me from that temptation. Teach me not to condemn, and let the lesson take hold in me.

@JokeToons That was a great analogy. I’m saving that video!

Mr. Lee, I am fond of your political positions for sure, but I am uncertain how not being accurate with 'the truth' is helping anybody when it comes down to "who is a Christian?" Just because someone says they are (thing 1) but if they express a radically different interpretation about it to the point its no longer (thing 1) then at what point do we correct them? In the case of Christianity, Mormon Christology is so skewed, even Catholics don't accept Mormon Baptism due to the errors put forth by LDS Church. I'm sure you're far too busy, justly so, to respond to me directly, but here's a document from the Vatican answering the question "Are Mormon Baptisms valid in the Catholic Church?" The second link is a (dated) list of Valid and Invalid Baptisms within the Catholic Church. Just because we may disagree about Christ, it doesn't mean people should be murdered either. I will continue to pray for those victims in Minnesota.

@JokeToons I agree that now is not the time to engage in theological discussions about Mormonism; unless it is forced upon us. When Mormons are out claiming to be Christians just like us, that's when we have to say, no, hold up. You're not.

Senator Lee. I am deeply saddened by what has happened yesterday to a Mormon Church in Michigan and so is every other religious American and every American with a conscience. Anyone trying to make apologetic arguments for their perspective at this time are being distasteful. However, your engagement with these apologetic arguments are making people find distaste from you in this moment. We Christians make legitimate arguments that Mormons are not Christians and most of us (the serious ones anyways) are trying to focus on the tragedy itself, not trying to take advantage of it to make an apologetics argument. Most of Christendom does not say you are a crazed heathen lunatic. Most sensible Christians view you as moral people who try and do the right thing as best you can and that you do view yourselves as Christians. However, we believe Mormons are in a Masonic cult from the 1830's. Our arguments should not be dismissed as mere protestant denominational arguments. These are to do with objective agreement with Nicaean Creed, specifically to do with the Trinity. These are not non-sense, meaningless grievances, they are the essentials to being a Christian that everyone since the time of the Apostles and their successors has agreed must be followed to be Christian. I ask that you please just focus on the loss and tragedy of what has happened and not go on the attack against good willed Christians who don't hate you, they just don't believe Mormonism, though good many of it's people are, is true Christian religious belief. Thank You.

@JokeToons Sir, are the FLDS Mormon or LDS? Are the Mormon fundamentalist LDS?

✝️ When faith in God is under attack from every direction, the LAST thing we should do is fight each other. 👉 The whole “Mormons aren’t Christians” debate? Pointless division. This clip from @Joketoons nails it perfectly straight out of comedian Emo Phillips’ playbook. 🎯 UNITED we stand. Divided we fall.

More than ever we need to be ready to defend GOD. The word of GOD is under attack everywhere you look. That's why I made this video. If you're ready to sell your cloak, to buy a sword, share this. GODs Army is bigger than you think 🙏
