On this Memorial Day we remember those who have given their lives in the service of this nation, and we hold in our hearts the families and loved ones they left behind. For those of us who wore the uniform in combat, this is a day where we remember our friends and comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember them as they were: sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers. And we rededicate ourselves to living good lives, not to waste the opportunity to live on they gave us with their sacrifice. The willingness of some young Americans to sign the dotted line and risk their futures for the good of the nation is a resource we must jealously guard. It cannot be abused and squandered by those in power for their own benefit. The best way to honor the dead is to make sure future generations are not sacrificed for no reason. Semper Fidelis.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended the funeral ceremony in Soran for the six Peshmerga who were martyred in the Iranian missile attack in the early hours of Tuesday March 24. Following his participation in the ceremony, the Prime Minister delivered a statement to the press to extend his condolences to the families and relatives of the martyrs and to the people of Kurdistan. He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing on the patriotic path of the martyrs. In this regard, the Prime Minister said: “With deep sorrow, we extend our condolences to His Excellency President Barzani, to the relatives and the proud families of the martyrs, and to all of us over the loss of these six heroic martyrs. We also wish the wounded a speedy recovery.” The Prime Minister reiterated that they were victims of treachery and betrayal, and that the attack on Peshmerga Forces was carried out without justification. He said that it is because of the blood of the martyrs that we live with pride in our country, and that Kurdistan is precious because of their sacrifice. Just as the blood of the martyrs has never been shed in vain, this time too it will not be in vain. The Prime Minister also stressed that while we do not want to be drawn into any war and want Kurdistan to remain protected, we will do whatever is necessary to protect Kurdistan and defend the dignity, rights, land, and homeland of our people. He emphasized that we will continue along the path of our martyrs and the path of President Barzani.

Some may disagree with me, but I believe that today's generation lives in an open world, with phones and social media in their hands revealing what is happening moment by moment. The idea is not to scare children, but to enhance their psychological security through age-appropriate honesty. Educational studies indicate that when children discover the truth later from external sources -such as the internet or friends - after being told something different, they may feel confused or lose some of their trust. Therefore, a calm and honest explanation promotes psychological stability and gives them a sense of security and confidence. It is important for children to learn the truth from their parents first, rather than receiving it from platforms that may be filled with misinformation or distorted narratives that reach them in a way that contradicts the truth. We must raise our children to be aware, not ignorant, and teach them from an early age who stands with their homeland and who attacks it, and make them understand the meaning of defending the homeland and the value of the sacrifices made to protect its security and stability. Funeral prayers of martyrs martyred in suicide attack on Federal Constabulary Headquarters Peshawar offered at Federal Constabulary Headquarters The funeral prayers were attended by Chief Minister KP, Corps Commander Peshawar and military and civil officials in large numbers. It is often said – but cannot be said enough – there is no way to repay those who have laid down their lives for our nation. Nor can we ever ease the pain felt by the families they left behind. What we can do is acknowledge their sacrifice, reflect on their immense courage, and express our deepest gratitude to be living in a nation where we can enjoy the freedoms they so bravely defended.
