Ethan Klein continually called Hasan an anti-semite within the debate for including the context that Jews in Iraq were unfortunately associated with colonial powers & how it influenced their displacement. Here is Avi Shlaim making that SAME claim in the SAME interview E clipped.

And here is even more valuable context that Hasan attempted to include about the displacement of Jews after the Nakba that Ethan insisted was flat-out wrong and antisemitic. Again, this is all in the same interview that Ethan played from within the debate.

Avi Shlaim has gotta be the most huggably cute human being ever.

He made the same stupid argument when he brought up Algeria. They didn't kick out "the jews", they kicked out the French, who a lot of happened to be Jewish (and overwhelmingly supportive of the colonial regime)

The Jews deserved it bro, please you gotta believe me bro, free Palestine bro

There was a post a while ago showcasing a Yiddish journal from a traveler through the middle east in the late 1940s (post-war). He went through Egypt and the Jews there said that Zionists are to blame for causing bad relations with the locals.

So are we saying that "associating [local] Jews with colonial powers" as the population throughout the Arab world did throughout the period *isn't* antisemitism though?

Yes, it definitely was/is antisemitism... Are you bringing this up because of Ethan's claims that Hasan supposedly denied this? He didn't. And I posted a couple of tweets in ref to that btw:

The Jews in Iraq were loosely "associated" with the British so they were attacked by Arabs? Is that not literally just anti antisemitism?

That IS antisemitism, yes... and?

Honoring the Memory of Steven Sotloff, of Blessed Memory Today, we remember Steven Sotloff, a courageous Jewish journalist whose life was tragically taken by ISIS a decade ago. His bravery and dedication to truth continue to inspire us. The greatest tribute we can offer is to ensure that terrorist groups like ISIS, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and their ilk are eradicated. Our mission is clear: to make this world safer for all—except those who seek to destroy it through terror. Who stands with us in this fight?
