I have said several times that we support everything that is beneficial for the Armenian people. We have a special relationship with the Armenian people that has lasted for centuries, and if a particular decision benefits the Armenian people, we won't oppose it. But of course, we must keep in mind certain circumstances that are important both for us and for our partners. For example, our trade turnover with Armenia is 7 billion, while Armenia's GDP is 29 billion, so this is a serious figure. Armenia also receives significant advantages within the EAEU. In fact, this is what the former president has to say about Armenia joining the EAEU: "There was no coercion whatsoever, not even a millimeter of pressure from Russia. Moreover, for two years I personally asked and proposed to Russia that they accept us into the EAEU. Because it was obvious that if we did not become a member of the EAEU, we would face numerous internal problems in the country. 300,000 farm businesses in Armenia are engaged in agriculture. This is our largest sector. With the EU, we had GSP+, which provided trade preferences, but those never applied to Armenian cognac, fruits, and so on. Besides that, there was also the issue of fuel imports. It is one thing to get gas at 135 dollars and another at 250 dollars."

European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius Andrius Kubilius: we need the European Defence Union. NATO membership for Ukraine, for the time being, is not available. Full membership in the European Union is a complicated process that cannot guarantee quick integration of defense capabilities. Those are the reasons why the most effective instrument could be to look for some new instrument that would concentrate specifically on the integration of all the European defence capabilities. That is why we need the European Defence Union, which would allow to integrate defense capabilities of Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Norway with those of willing European Union member states. Such an integration would also be a strong security guarantee for Ukraine after the just peace is established.

The Kremlin says Russia is effectively subsidising Armenia and doesn't want Yerevan’s moves toward the EU to undermine Eurasian integration. Peskov said Armenia receives benefits “not from the sky,” but “at the expense of the Russian Federation,” describing this as Moscow’s contribution to the development of a “brotherly” country. “The Armenian people are a brotherly people, and Armenia is a brotherly country. It has been and will remain so,” he said. “But this is at our expense. We need to call things by their proper names. This is our assistance to Armenia.” He added that Russia’s priority is ensuring that the actions of any side do not damage integration within the EEU.

Ukraine's EU membership would mean immediate war with Russia, and even if there is peace at the moment, it carries with it the constant risk of war. We are talking about a 1,200-kilometer-long front line, and even if there is peace, there is no way of knowing how long it will last. Therefore, Ukraine's accession poses a direct threat of war to all European countries. Of course, those on the Atlantic coast can calmly ask for a cup of coffee. This does not bother them all that much, because they are far away. But we are here. We have already been on Ukrainian territory that belonged to Russia during the war, and we know the consequences. As a responsible ally, we not only set an example how to boost our common security by spending almost 5% of our GDP for defense.
