I used to agree with euthanasia but it is one issue I have changed my mind about after seeing the abuses Liz Carr mentions in Canada. Do you really think the state should have such power? Or that the government can be trusted when we see how they treat the disabled?

She's absolutely right on that last line, "those protections put in place are slowly whittled away." If it becomes legal here, it will 100% be used to reduce the welfare costs. I understand why people are in favour of it but as a disabled person, I worry it will be used....

But what if you are if sound mind and make the decision to save both yourself and your loved ones the agony of watching you become ill and totally dependent I don’t want to end up like my dad I want the choice

@Aja02537920 I saw a video last year I think, of a Canadian man who had been homeless and was desperately poor and he wanted to take the assisted suicide approach. He was severely depressed. Canada is doing several things I think are atrocious. This is one.

It’s not about failed social care and medical system it’s about no quality of life no dignity no normality constant pain and humiliation it’s about just existing and it should be our choice

@adhib I used to agree and support Assisted Dieing, but seeing Canada MAID play out with offers of euthanasia instead of spending money on disability aids, I am strongly against it.

A couple of years ago I was in hospital with pneumonia a single room a nurse shouted down corridor Rachel I see you haven't got a DNR on your records I said yes she said do you want one like it was a prize I said like hell I am not on this earth to give anyone an easy life
