The BJP has been ruling in BMC now for almost 30 years, 25 years in alliance with Sena and in control via administrators for the years there were no BMC elections. It now has a majority in BMC. But it has been pretending as if it had no hand in what has gone wrong with the city. Mumbaikars have been facing a tough time these past few days while the city's administration and the Mahayuti government shirk responsibilities. Every road has been filled with water in Mumbai, people have been stranded, water has seeped into houses and roads have caved in. The Mayor and the माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC Commissioner had made tall claims of 100% Nullah Cleaning, the truth of which was exposed in the first rains itself. While the Mayor seemed more interested in making reels of herself, the Commissioner hasn't said anything of note. The BJP has only been mocking the senseless tragedies that have occured in the past few days. Instead online warriors have been unleashed by each of the responsible parties to defend the indefensible. This happens year after year and yes, the BJP is quite responsible for the 25 year mess in the BMC that it pretends wasn't its fault.

From my interview moments ago with Al Jazeera English on the defections among SDF and the popular movement in areas under their control: 🔸The SDF lacks the popular base due to its practices, which has led to the emergence of a popular movement against it, alongside the withdrawal of SDF forces west of the Euphrates and the occurrence of multiple defections within its ranks. 🔸Residents in those areas have grown weary of the SDF’s practices, which are based on discrimination and repression. 🔸What is currently unfolding is a popular movement against the SDF’s repressive practices and its policies, which are full of violations against civilians.

In the Assembly today, I raised the issue of the bogus “replanting” and compensatory afforestation of mangroves shown in survey 342 in Bhayandar, in order to cut 45,000 mangroves for the Versova Bhayandar coastal road. My demands were: 🚨 Stop the 45,000 mangroves from being cut 🚨 Organise a visit of a joint committee of the Assembly to the sites of mangrove replanting and mangrove cutting. 🚨 Set up an inquiry commission so that the officials of the Forest Department don’t mislead the Hon’ble Court, the Forest Minister and the civil society. Alternatives like tunnel or alternate routes can be achieved to protect the mangroves. Members of civil society have found that the Maha Forest Official is misleading the Hon’ble High Court on the so called plantation of the mangroves. #Mumbai #Maharashtra #Mangroves #ClimateAction
