If Denmark’s leftists can close the border to protect their welfare state, why don’t American leftists? While Germany threw the gates open in 2015, Mette Frederiksen’s government went turned Denmark into one of Europe’s strictest countries on immigration. They forced toddlers from majority non-Western neighborhoods into mandatory Danish language and values daycare starting at age 1. They became the first EU country to process asylum claims outside Europe and started stripping residency permits from Syrians once they ruled Damascus safe enough to return. Asylum applications dropped from over 21,000 in 2015 to under 2,000. They decided mass immigration without integration would bankrupt the system Danish workers spent decades paying into, so they closed the door. I suspect American leftists have ulterior motives.

I've been saying this long before the earthquakes: Venezuela was not safe to return to then, and it certainly isn't safe now. That's why I've consistently supported TPS for people who cannot safely return home. But we can't keep relying on temporary fixes forever. It's time for Congress to pass real immigration reform.

Channel 4 News cover the creation and rise of hotels for asylum seekers Your reminder that it was the Conservative government that created this problem by stopping the processing of asylum seeker applications because they thought their Rwanda scheme which only send 4 volunteers to Rwanda was the solution to the UK being outside the EU with Brexit and unable to return asylum seekers back to the first country they entered the EU as we were no long party to the Dublin agreement, which in turn is the reason why so many asylum seekers come to the UK on small boats because they know that outside the EU the mechanism to return them no longer exists I.e. all of this was created by the Conservatives and Labour are now in. the process of trying to fix this, and while they've done some positive things they still have a long way to go, including doing the thing which they repeatedly called for in opposition but still haven't done in government: safe and legal routes

Someone working for Greggs, unemployed, next week they're interviewing asylum seekers" First thing to note is that Rishi Sunak has now acknowledged that over the past 14 years of Conservative party rule, their plans mean fewer asylum seeker applications were processed i.e. they created the asylum backlog The second thing to note is that tick boxing asylum applications without reading the details and making a proper evaluation isn't processing applications, it's tick boxing so Sunak can make his statement of processing so many applications The third thing to note is that when Rishi Sunak said he would outsource sick notes away from GPs - the people who actually know whether you are suitable to be off sick or not, this tick boxing of asylum seeker applications is an example of outsourcing, which means the quality of service will be another layer of red tape that will cost more, deliver less, put more stress on the disabled, and the only winners will be the donors who secure the contract

This really is a symbol of everything wrong with modern Ireland. Demolishing a family home during a housing crisis because it violated planning laws. But the official government policy for housing asylum seekers is to bypass planning laws. In 2022 the government introduced a law allowing any number of facilities including hospitals, army barracks, shops, hotels, and even places of worship to be used for asylum seeker housing. Basically they exempted every structure in Ireland from planning laws as long as it was housing asylum seekers. That law has been extended to the end of 2028. One rule for Irish people, another when it comes to foreigners.

Districts w/ high levels of illegal foreigners are all discussing the long-term impacts of self-deportation or relocating to "safer" states. *When you look at the data for some of these districts, it's staggering. Much of the student population are illegal foreigners pipelined in from Africa or the middle east. ICE activity led to many of them staying home. **Certain districts in Maine have been artificially existing via illegal immigration. It appears they are now coming to terms with what is happening.

Just when you thought Donald J. Trump's deportation machine couldn't get any more lawless and cruel, ICE is now changing tactics and arresting people who have been granted asylum hearings. This means that even when the judge is denying the federal government's motion to dismiss + giving asylum seekers a hearing, ICE is still disappearing them DESPITE the judge's ruling. Any pretense of "due process" has been thrown out the window. This is both a violation of US and international law that demands immediate attention from all New York elected officials & underscores the urgent need for legal service providers to be present at all of these cases.
