It didn’t flop. Vince initially tried to bury it and then basically never did anything of note with it.

Bray was such a creative genius.

The character and gimmick was never pushed.

The WWE audience wasn’t ready yet but they are now because once they return Matt will definitely use this character. Imagine a delete + yeet chant and a meeting with the Wyatt sicks + Matt 🔥

I think a lot of people (myself included) actually switched back to watching WWE just to watch Broken Matt Hardy. Not being utilised and being booked poorly is not a flop, more like tanking from the WWE.
