I am grateful to each mobile air defense group warrior who protects our infrastructure and people on a daily basis. Only this night did they shoot down 40 "Shahed" drones, which account for the majority of what Russia has fired. We have already shot down 359 such drones since the beginning of the year. Our sky defenders’ precision, electronic warfare, and every partner’s support literally save lives. We are working to improve the effectiveness of our mobile air defense groups and add more defensive electronic warfare systems. This is one of this year's key priorities.

Europe must finally equip itself with real strength, real ability to defend its skies, its land, and its sea against any type of attack. In particular, this means building sufficient air defense production capacity — both against drones and against ballistic missiles. The situation in the Middle East shows how difficult it is to provide one hundred percent protection against missiles and “shahed” drones. Even in the Gulf countries, which have more advanced air defense systems than those provided to us so far by our partners and have them in larger quantities, not all ballistic missiles are intercepted. There were also “shaheds” that air defense in the region has not stopped. Everyone can now see that Ukraine’s experience in defense is, in many respects, irreplaceable. We are ready to share this experience and help those nations that helped Ukraine this winter and throughout this war. We are ready to work on developing Europe’s shared defensive capabilities. Europe must have enough air defense missiles, enough experience in shooting down drones, and sufficient production of modern interceptor drones. Together, we can make this happen. Thank you to everyone working to strengthen the power of a united Europe.

He stated that interceptions of Russian jet powered drones are minimal because of the increased speed and altitude of the drones. Ukraine relies heavily on anti-air gunners and interceptor drones to shoot down Russian Gerans. In previous years, the Russian Geran-2 drones (which were most prominent) were low flying and had a slow cruising speed. This made shooting them down with cheaper means easier. However, these new Russian jet powered Gerans fly too high and fast to be intercepted by anti-air gunners and interceptor drones. This forces Ukraine to have to utilize missile interceptors or fighter jets leading to more successful impacts. Eventually Ukraine will find a solution, but until they do Russia will keep hammering major cities across the country for months to come. For Ukraine's sake, I hope they find a solution before winter.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz: Missiles are falling, drones are falling one kilometer from the Polish border. If Ukraine does not have air defense systems, if it does not have ammunition to shoot down these drones, most of these drones will fly through Ukraine and reach Poland. The state interest is supporting a Ukraine that is fighting, so that missiles are intercepted there and do not reach Poland.
