Hate it

A chat box looks simple. Having to describe 'move this 2 pixels left' every time would drive me mad.

A year ago or so there was that drawing meme that all apps looks the same (and it was like wireframe with textbox/input in the middle), anyone remember/has it?

And i cannot say it is a good thing either. It feels much like the Monkey see Monkey do story you shared with me many years ago. Where the reason WHY something is done has long been lost and is merely being copied now... not because its actually a better user experience.

Why not.

Each app getting its own chat box means a dozen assistants that each know one app. The person still carries the context between them, pasting the brief from email into Adobe into Slides, so the copy-paste survives and just moves into a prompt.

i dont think of it like chat. its a stream of bits in and out. eventually, it'll be a direct feed into your brain. :D

True! Does seem to be more valuable for tools where you have to click around a lot to configure to get value. The other rising trend is that MCP is the same thing, but more powerful and with more non-technical users adopting.

that’s not necessarily a bad thing. for some tasks where the inference and prompting takes longer than the task itself sure it’s a waste. but i've found it useful and more accurate for in-app docs questions
