What he really did was sell a kid on remaining a depth piece at Bama instead of possibly producing some film elsewhere.

This is trash These guys get one shot at making the NFL. If things are working out, you are in no way indebted to the multimillionaire coach to waste your opportunity until he feels it’s time And it’s real rich coming from Saban, who left the Dolphins bc he was struggling

Ohio State wasn't playing Burrow - so he transferred to LSU and won the National Championship and the Heisman.

You not playing if u not a 5 or 4 star at bama. Especially during saban era. Rare L from saban

Competition sounds great, until NIL leveled the playing field and Saban wanted nothing of it and retired.

Stop it! you illegally paid the best players before NIL. Then left when you no longer had the upper hand. You can fool people that don’t know any better, but you were really good as illegally paying the best players!

So the player isn’t good enough to play at bama there’s 134 teams in the fbs there’s definitely some school where he can play and shine

Entitlement from NIL is ruining college football.

Nah. If you’re not playing you’re not getting better. Leave and start for another D-1 school

This is terrible. The sprinter is a bad anology. It woukd be accurate if sprinter couldn’t sprint because other sprinters were better

Meanwhile, his boosters were paying 5 ⭐️ players under the table to come to Bama…..

Our sport is by far the best sport there is, but all sports should be like this. This is why you don't need women in Football. Sports is the only true meritocracy.

In recruiting season, did Saban say “I’m just gonna make the kids I have better”? No - he went an got another 5 star This is just Coach speak - you commit to me but I’ll be looking for someone better. Improving is meaningless if the kid never actually gets to play.

He didn’t use this advice when left the Dolphins an incomplete mess.

Profilbild von John Wicked

This is a such a naive take. Yes, he might make the kid a better football player, but he probably STILL won’t play. And that’s what the kid wanted; to play and to be noticed so that he might possibly get drafted. Both sides may be right. Both sides may be wrong.

Not now hey can transfer and be playmakers right now if they are actually that good and a lot are that good!! Keep it up Players!!

Sometimes there is only one ball though. For everyone Saban is talking about there is a Joe Burrow who for some reason couldn’t get on the field at Ohio State. For some of these coaches it’s not always a meritocracy like it should be.

And then the transfer portal, NIL and collectives happened. And he retired. The era of bullshit is over.

That used to keep players. However, now a dude who’s riding the pine can start on another team. Too much money is at stake for a talented player to sit for two or three years.

I wonder if you're aware that Nick Saban is a Yankee? Born in northern West Virginia, closer to PA, than VA He went to Kent State in Ohio, and played / coached with all northern teams (save the Oilers in 88 - 89) till LSU in 2000 His most influential coach is Ohio's Don James

Saban also over signed classes when you couldn't really transfer and screwed over a lot of kids

It’s dumb to stay somewhere and not play, when they can go to another team and contribute and have their talent showcased. They are not there to wear a jersey and rep a certain team, they are there to play football

It’s not like a kid can spend 5-6 years improving. If they only have 2 more years in their whole life that they can play 🏈 and they aren’t as good as the guys in front of them, they probably should transfer. Didn’t sound like kid was complaining. Maybe was just realistic.

I remember Nick Saban at Toledo. Good advice but also sometimes it's better to get to a better situational fit. My friend's son was at IU and transferred to Ball State. Better fit. The old days are over. Track is all on you. Bolt was the GOAT BTW.
