With the greatest respect to the jockey, it's his responsibility to be in charge of his horse...he clearly makes a movement and jockey only notices at the last moment. That's jockey error...not a non runner... regardless of who it is

Terrible decision - so if a horse tears at the start of a jump race will it now be a non runner? I initially thought gates hadn’t opened and if so - would agree - if a horse does that - it’s his issue not the others

mad timing to lose the favourite at the off. rule 4 and refunds before the Derby’s even settled into its stride is grim stuff

As the photo illustrates the starting stalls are not fit for purpose, they are clearly not wide enough for all sizes of horses and those running boards either side of the horse space reduces the room the horse has in them. The horse may even have lifted his leg up because of this

What nonsense ! Many times, horses are left standing in the gate so does that mean they can be declared NR. It wasnt the starter's problem, it was more to do with the jockey not being too vigilant. All in all, useless judgement to declare it an NR.

So the horse missed the break, no mechanical fault but was a non runner ! What an absolute farce. Sport of kings ruined by amateurs
