Every country has its own amount of freedom, which is higher for some and lower for others. Some inherited it. Others fight for it. But, regardless of the country, freedom is never free. It must be protected at all times. There must be an understanding of what empowers freedom. Freedom should also be backed up by guarantees. In today’s conversation with Dutch students, I emphasised that there should never be a time when a country loses its freedom. The same is true for every person. To be free, one must comprehend what gives him or her the strength to be free.

#WorldPressFreedomDay Being afforded Freedom of the Press does not necessarily mean that people must abuse that privilege, it must be taken together with responsibility. We would want to encourage media houses, our journalists together with generality of the citizens of Zimbabwe to be responsible so that the Information that is circulated or disseminated unites the people and not to divide the people.
