Today is bigger than any one candidate. Throughout the ongoing NBA elections, I have received reports from lawyers across the country who say they have been unable to cast their votes due to challenges with the voting process. Regrettably, I have also been unable to cast my own vote despite repeated attempts. We have records showing that the system allows people to vote twice, when it should be one member one vote. Every eligible member of our Association deserves the opportunity to participate in a free, fair, transparent, and credible election. The integrity of our democratic process must inspire confidence in every voter. To everyone who believes in this vision, I urge you: do not give up. Continue trying to exercise your right to vote for as long as the voting window remains open. Leadership is tested most in difficult moments. Yesterday, on the floor of the House of Representatives, I stood alongside colleagues and fellow visionaries to formally announce our registration with the NDC. This decision was not taken lightly. Having served my people faithfully and delivered tangible results in Awka North and South, I realized that to deepen our progress and truly secure a better future, we must align with a movement that embodies fairness, accountability, and opportunity for all. It was a profound privilege to engage with the leadership and dedicated members of our great NDC family in Alimosho LGA; ward chairmen and secretaries, youth leaders, women leaders, and our committed LGA executives. I shared a bit of my journey, the experiences that have shaped me, and the conviction that led me to answer the call of public service. More importantly, I laid out my vision for a Lagos that truly works for all: a Lagos anchored in competence, accountability, and genuine, people-centered service. I am deeply grateful for the warmth, the enthusiasm, and the openness with which I was received. “We will not submit to noise, rascality, or disobedience to lawful court orders. We must uphold democracy, respect the judiciary whether it favours us or not, and remain faithful to the principles that hold our nation together. There is no path to national greatness except the path of building one country, one common vision, one shared future of progress and prosperity for all Nigerians. That is what Renewed Hope is about. They cannot scare me off. I have been through this road before and, if I must walk it again and again for our country, I will. There is no better place than Nigeria, and no one will build it for us except ourselves. I have listened. I know the journey is not easy. But I give you my word: I will not run away from this task. I will not give up. While the outcome has been disappointing, we all worked very hard and ran a very positive campaign. It is because of that 3.4 lakh people of Thiruvananthapuram came out and supported us, which is a record in itself. As I said on 5th March when I came here, it is my mission to transform Thiruvananthapuram, and I stand by it.
