We must uphold democracy, respect the judiciary whether it favours us or not, and remain faithful to the principles that hold our nation together. They cannot scare me off. I have been through this road before and, if I must walk it again and again for our country, I will. There is no better place than Nigeria, and no one will build it for us except ourselves. I have listened. I know the journey is not easy. But I give you my word: I will not run away from this task. And when Westminster walked away from us, when we were struggling as a deindustrialized city region, it was the people in this place that began the journey to rebuild." While the outcome has been disappointing, we all worked very hard and ran a very positive campaign. It is because of that 3.4 lakh people of Thiruvananthapuram came out and supported us, which is a record in itself. As I said on 5th March when I came here, it is my mission to transform Thiruvananthapuram, and I stand by it. My commitment to the city is not only through the prism of elections; it is something that I have made my mission, and I will certainly be here to serve the people for years to come.
