Every JavaScript dev has done this at least once: > Typed ${name} inside "quotes"... > Hit save. > Saw "Hello ${name}" instead of Hello John. > Then sighed, deleted, and retyped everything with backticks. So I built "Quotick", a VS Code extension that instantly converts quotes → backticks the...

You can now revert the backticks too and convert them to quotes if you remove '$' or '{', move to version 0.0.6 on extension.

I didn’t realize other IDEs didn’t just change it for you. Jetbrains just changes it to backticks, and you can undo it if you’re leaving it for a reason.

Ooh never used jetbrain for js only used it for python

Nope, haven't done this once Even when I used monochrome editor theme, syntax highlighting tells you what to do

Nice that you came up with it by yourself. This kind of dx details are gold. (Built in with WebStom btw,)

Sorry to say but I've never done that mistake. The colour syntax in the editor makes it painfully obvious. And besides I don't like back ticks a whole lot so I'm aware when I can avoid it and when I need it for ${} stuff

I have never done that, because the LSP highlights backticks differently.

“deleted, and retyped everything”… whaaaaa? If you have to delete and retype everything to change quotes to backtick, more than an extension is needed at that point… 😳
