Every man needs to be able to work on their cars at a basic level minimum. Basic includes oil, filters, plugs, wires, brakes, rotors, fluids, etc. Also, get a computer for your vehicle and scan your codes. O2 sensors aren’t hard. Alternators aren’t too bad. Changing belts and such...

I’ve got 4 right now but they are all parts cars to make this 67 into my little show car. It started off as a rotten $300 car that’s been hit in the front and rear and off the road since 88. I’ve got a built 1776cc engine for it and I’m adding a turbo/nitrous. But I’ve had about 30 bugs in the past 16 years. This is what the car looked like when I bought it last August

Third generation automotive tech here to say that there are most certainly some people that should not attempt anything on their vehicle. Ive fixed a lot of disasters over the years from people that have no capacity to understand anything mechanical.

"Every man needs to learn basic dentistry, get a mirror and do your own root canals, its not bad. Also some DIY filling kits from Amazon, learn that too. I do, therefor I judge every other human being to my metric, as I cant see past my own nose and everybody must exactly like me" 🤣 Classic. I love it. "Ur not a man if you dont know how to replace the blade of that Stihl out there, boy!" Bro we live in 2026, I can drop my truck off anywhere in town, or literally place an order for a guy to show up at my house to fix it while I sit at my computer and vibe code an app. Your hilariously ignorant statement can be said about any hobby or skillset and have the same amount of weight to it. None.

I'm not opposed, but let's not sugarcoat what working on a car in the rust belt is really like. You will break and strip bolts, get rust in your eyes, bloody all your knuckles, and often break more than what originally needed fixing to begin with. I'm all for doing maintenance, but let's not pretend that even a simple brake job can't turn into a 3-day affair to fix.

Rebuilt a power steering pump recently. The dealer quoted $1600 to fix it, I was able to do it for about $200 in parts and that included replacing the bearing assembly which amazingly the dealer wasn't even including in their quote.

Mechanic here, valid points. Although working with a lot of kids coming into the industry. Most don't have common sense. Teach your kids young how to work through problems and figure things out on their own. Sometimes the hard way, is how you learn to do things the easy way.

Tesla is way ahead of you. The only thing better than being “able to work on” your car is to have a car that doesn’t have all this crap that needs to be worked on. Even brakes. Teslas never use them for normal driving so they never wear. We can easily replace our own cabin air filters. And fill it washer fluid reservoirs.

My only beef is time to fix. I would love to work on my car myself but also I need to drive in to work basically everyday so I can’t go without my car and if I have a mechanic I can trust to turn my car around in a day or two I’ll take that over spending a couple days fixing.

Never once brought a vehicle to a mechanic. I just pulled the engine on our Suburban a couple months ago and did a DOD delete. I just hate the idea of spending 4-5x more on something I could do myself. Same goes for home repairs. I never once hired any kind of contractor either.

The part where it is getting challenging is a lot of even "simple" jobs on newer vehicles require technology to complete them. Batteries that require coding Brake calipers that require computer actuation to do pad changes or bleed. That sort of stuff. There are consumer grade scan tools that allow you to do this kind of work but even the cheapies are a few hundred bucks and many require a subscription.

HOW TO DRIFT IN FORZA HORIZON 6 ON CONTROLLER FOR BEGINNERS! Disclaimer, I’m not exactly Drift King, some people make me look like Donkey Kong. I do it well enough for people who are completely new to drifting to ask me how I do it, so I’m going to explain how I do it, as someone who is “decent” at best at it. First of all, you’re going to want to change your transmission to Manual so that you can maintain a consistent drift, as the speed of your vehicle determines the angle of your drift, and with Automatic, you can’t control your speed. It doesn’t matter, just personal preference here, you can do your gear changes with the buttons, but if you own an Elite Controller, you can put the paddles to good use here. I like to equip only two paddles, preferably the larger ones, and map the left to X (Downshift) and map the right to B (Upshift). You also want to turn off your Traction and Stability control assists to allow your car to slide. My vehicle of preference is the Silvia Spec R, and the code for the tune I use is 146 936 201. I am using a RWD Vehicle for reference, but some people prefer AWD. For the most part, you’re going to be driving in third and fourth gear. Third gear is great for small roads and tight, closed corners where you need a sharper drift, and fourth gear is great for wide roads and corners because the extra speed is going to throw your car further forwards and make your drift angle more shallow. It’s important to look at the size of the road and the corner you have to take and judge what gear you need to be in as the speed of your car makes all of the difference. That being said, these are not real cars, if you’re going too fast, I much prefer to hold the gas and brake pedal at the same time whilst taking the drift as opposed to engine braking. It almost makes you float around the corner at a consistent speed and gives you more control. If you are on the inside edge of the corner you’re taking, you can hold your foot brake and handbrake at the same time and your car will almost push back a little giving you more space to angle yourself correctly. If this helped you, let me know 🥹

Q: Why is company culture important? In the clip below, a16z cofounder Ben Horowitz argues that culture drives how people in your company behave on a daily basis—and particularly, how they behave when you’re not looking. Is that phone call so important I need to return it today or can it wait until tomorrow? Can I ask for a raise before my annual review? Is the quality of this document good enough or should I keep working on it? Do I have to be on time for that meeting? Should I stay at the Four Seasons or the Red Roof Inn? Should I go home at 5 p.m. or 8 p.m.? Should we discuss the color of this new product for five minutes or thirty hours? If I know something is badly broken in the company, should I say something? Whom should I tell? Is winning more important than ethics? None of these things are in your mission statement or OKRs, but they determine many important things for your company, such as how people experience your company, what you’re like to do business with, what your company is like to work at, etc. And as Ben describes, what drives the culture is all of the little behaviors and cues people take on: “this is what I have to do to succeed in this company.” Culture can feel abstract and secondary when you pit it against a concrete result that’s right in front of you, but it’s a strategic investment in the company doing things the right way when you are not looking. It’s the set of assumptions your employees use to resolve the problems they face every day. It’s how they behave when no one is looking. If you don’t methodically set your culture, then two-thirds of it will end up being accidental, and the rest will be a mistake. If you’re looking for a more in-depth guide to culture and how to build a great one, I’d recommend Ben’s book: What You Do Is Who You Are.

J.J. Watt says one of the hardest lessons he learned as an NFL captain was that not everyone knows how to work the way you work, and being a professional is something that has to be taught/learned “That mentality is a tough thing that I’ve had to learn over time, especially as a leader in a locker room, is when to impose that mindset and when to back off a little bit too.” “Somebody told me this once, and it was a very interesting quote. They said, ‘If you hold every single player to the standard you hold yourself to, you’re always going to be disappointed.’ You hold yourself to such this incredibly high standard, and truthfully, some of these young guys just don’t know yet. They still have to learn how to be a pro.” “Yes, you want to bring them up to your level, but you also can’t be so angry every time. Sometimes I was good at it. Sometimes I was bad at it. I had to learn also how to be a leader. There’s definitely situations I look at where I say, ‘Oh man, I could’ve done a better job there.’” “The thing I always try to remember is, ‘They don’t know everything I know yet.’ That’s a hard switch for me to make sometimes. I go out to practice, and I have this knowledge because of the experience, and I get mad at a guy because he doesn’t know that if they line up like this, they’re going to run this play. And I’m like, ‘Why didn’t you know that?’” “But he doesn’t know. I have to give him that knowledge, and I have to help pull him along. Studying your film, doing your weights, maybe the little extra things, it’s the things that have become natural to me over time, but it’s not natural to them.” “You have to teach them. Being a professional is something that is actually taught. It’s not just a normal thing.”

jihoon knowing all the tiny details that women go through when preparing ourselves in going to concerts 🥹 he even knows that we get frustrated bc we dont look as perfect inside the venue compared to when we leave our houses and assured us that the thought of wanting to look pretty for him in itself already makes us beautiful 😭 HOW CAN U NOT LOVE THIS PERSON 🐶 i know that when it rains, your curled hair falls out and everything. i know that your makeup gets messed up and all that. i take all of that into consideration when i look at you, so please don’t worry about it too much. i just don’t pay that much attention to things like that, so don’t worry about it 🐶 isn’t it actually better that i know these things? if i didn’t know, you might think i would find it strange. but i know all of that. i know i know. so don’t worry about things like that 🐶 people with curly hair straighten their hair before coming, but then suddenly it starts getting curly again because of the humidity, and the volume in their hair completely dies down 🐶 i also know that you can leave home thinking “this is the prettiest i habe looked” and then when you arrive at the venue, you look so different from how you did at home, and then it can make you upset because the singer you like is going to see you like this. i know that. 🐶 no my hair gets flat too, and my makeup gets messed up too. when it rains and it gets humid, im like that too so what. ah you don’t have to be embarrassed. you don’t have to be embarrassed because i wont pay attention to it. you don’t have to be embarrassed. 🐶 just come comfortably, and dress up however you want. just think “i’m the prettiest today”, “i’m the coolest”. dress up looking your best and come. come and have fun. 🐶 isn’t everyone like that? when people are in front of someone they like, they want to look good right? they want to show their best selves. 🐶 but whenever it’s an important day, you get sick, or a pimple suddenly comes up on your face. and on days that aren’t important, your skin looks amazing, or you somehow keep losing weight. that’s just how life is for people. it’s not just me. you all probably experience that too. 🐶 because you want to meet us so badly, and because all your attention is focused on us, you might come with a pimple on your face. things might not go the way you want them to. i know all that. i’m a person just like you. i know what it’s like when something happens on an important day. just think of it as me not seeing those things. so come comfortably. 🐶 yeah i know you want to look pretty. and because i know how much you want to look pretty, you look pretty to me. that feeling itself is beautiful, you know? i’m grateful. it feels like you’re being considerate of me. 🐶 when you go to meet someone, getting dressed up instead of just going out carelessly is a consideration for the person you’re meeting. of course it’s also for yourself. of course you can’t help but look pretty. 🐶 whether your makeup gets messed up, your hair curls back up, or whatever happens, its the actions themselves, each and every one of them, are all good you guys. 💬 why are you making us so emotional? 🐶 i’m not saying it because i’m trying to make you emotional. it is genuinely how i feel. i’m not saying this because i thought, “i have to make them emotional.” it’s true. i really think this way. 🐶 TREASURE MAKERs, you’re all pretty. really.. you’re all pretty. i genuinely think that way.

The subject of 'owning a slave' is dense. It is something we hear a lot when we are in the FemDom Realm. Is it just fantasy? Can it actually be a lifestyle? How do we navigate this type of dynamic? How do we even get to that level of D/s? In this short clip [Exerpt from SLAVE TRAINING Part 2] I want to already bring to your attention one thing that will define if your desire for a slave (or desire as a slave) is touching more on a fantasy or... how can you actually navigate this in a realistic way. No one person 'can do it all' or should be expected to. If you want your slave to be 'the best' , assign them a specific role in which they can excel... and then build upon that. Once they 'master' your housekeeping (which takes quite a bit of real training), they can move to other levels. And an important note I want to leave here... make them EARN access to certain things in your life that sometimes you just want to delegate because you don't want to manage or don't know how to manage. Entrusting them with serious tasks that can affect your life, your business, your reputation, are on top of the ladder. Are they even qualified for the thing you want them to take off your shoulders? Start small and allow them to grow in their submission, to develop their skills and to learn how to best satisfy you without setting them up for failure by expecting too much, too quick. In the end, if you want this to truly work, you have to approach it from a place that transcends the roles. As this is consensual power exchange. And you both want to be fulfilled in that relationship.
