I'm not entirely sure but I think he had congestive heart failure and he probably went to the doctor and was given a few weeks to months and that's why he reached out to Vince and everyone he wronged to apologize and make amends. He just didn't want to say it publicly

You cannot convince me this wasn’t his farewell speech to life itself. I think Warrior absolutely knew he was dying and was putting up a fight as long as he could & this brought him peace.

If you watched this live, it was not hard to believe. He literally sounded like he was saying goodbye. Sad either way. Wish he had his head on straight back in his day. Watching him as a kid was just another level of awesome.
