I just got the sad news that my Grandma Roz passed away at the age of 94. A Brownsville native, my grandmother was one of the first women to graduate from Brooklyn College with a degree in Chemistry. She was born to two very sick parents who both died while she was very young. My grandmother was a picky eater growing up and she never let me forget it. She introduced new food to me and when I fussed, she said “don’t say you don’t like something until you try it.” In fact, my first memory was her feeding me slices of cheese. I’m sure she just wanted me to be healthy, but it taught me a deeper lesson. That small value, helped me develop an open mind, not just for food, but everything in life. She taught me how to cross the streets in New York. One time, I got so frustrated that my grandma made me hold her hand, I ran off into the middle of the street with cars passing. When she rescued me 😂 she yelled at me and my credit score was dead on arrival ever since. My grandma spoke as a matter of fact. Confidently. She challenged me every step of my maturity. That helped me not only believe in myself but understand that along the way, I would have to put up as well. Even when you achieve something? It’s not enough. There’s still work to put in and a level to reach. With all her grandchildren, Grandma Roz would mark their height. Every visit, I’d see my growth. Through my younger cousins, I saw the evolution of her commitment to raising our family. I always respected that. My grandma once went to the Queens public library at flushing and picked me up a VHS of He Got Game. She tossed the case on the tv stand in my room and said “watch it, there’s nudity in it” 😂 When I was a teen, She would often have a secret non alcoholic beer with me… it was her way of being dangerous and I always got a kick out of it. As I got older, my car rides to NY always stopped at my grandma’s house in flushing. She would treat me the same way from when I was a kid. Treating an hour ride from Jersey as a “long ride you must be starving” taking out a piece of toast and offering a “little margarine” in her Brooklyn accent. At night, coming to my room with extra pillows, which she never called pillows, but “cushions” As a kid, my grandma would wake me up every morning singing Irving Berlin’s “Oh, How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning” I learned to enjoy the song because splashing water would come after. Something about that song. It’s so perfect. It’s so spiritual. I always imagined myself signing it at her funeral. I don’t know if I will, but now she won’t have to wake up every morning. She will get to sleep. With the eternal. Im forever grateful for such an amazing matriarch that I would have NOTHING without. I’m sad, broken, but she lived a long life and I know how blessed she was to make it a full century’s worth on this earth. My last experience with her was last week, she wouldn’t take her medicine. I just came up to her, put the pills in my hand and gave it to her. She took it. She grabbed my hand and kissed it. I’m so thankful to my mom, the healthcare workers, for allowing me to have a moment like that. Rest in Peace, Roslind Dorwitt aka Grandma Roz, or as our family called her… The Wizard of ROZ. ❤️

The gold her father never saw: Asmita Dey's journey from tragic loss to Commonwealth Gold. Her father, a cycle mechanic who earned barely ₹300 a day and raised his family in a mud house in a small village in Tripura, died of a brain stroke 7 months ago. On Friday, as the 23-year-old became the first Indian judoka to win a Commonwealth Games gold in the women's 48kg category, the medal felt as much his as hers. “When my father passed away, I thought everything had finished because he was the one who supported me. I am from a very small village in Tripura. People there don't dream this big. But Papa always supported me.” - Asmita said, struggling to hold back tears after her historic triumph. The family lived in a modest mud house, but he never allowed financial hardship to become a hurdle in his daughter playing the sport she loved. When a knee injury threatened to derail her career, he took her to Delhi for treatment, bought medicines and did everything within his means to ensure she could return to the mat. "He brought me to Delhi for treatment and bought medicines," she recalled. His sudden death in December last left Asmita devastated. The man who had been her biggest supporter and constant source of reassurance was gone, and with him, she felt, went her dream of competing on the biggest stage. But while Asmita struggled to come to terms with the loss, her mother quietly stepped into the role her husband had left behind. Just 10 days after the funeral, she asked her daughter to return to training. “If I stop you today, your father will think I am shattering your dreams,” she told her. Asmita packed her bags and returned to the Sports Authority of India centre in Bhopal.

This is one of my very favourite videos of Liz. It captures her doing the thing that gave her the most joy. Liz was a shy person by nature, but behind a camera she was relaxed, dynamic and in control. I loved watching her take photos and could do it for hours. Liz’s dream was to become a professional photographer. This shoot arranged by Richard Heathcote and Gareth Cattermole was an experience she spoke about every day for the remainder of her life. She knew exactly what she wanted her shots to look like, and definitely gave far more banter than she was given. It isn’t an exaggeration to say that her relationship with both these photographers changed her world. They gave her the confidence to believe in herself and to follow her heart. They treated her as a true photographer - that meant everything to her. Liz was kind, funny, generous and stubborn. She had amazing ideas and loved being taught how to execute them. She should have had a lifetime to hone her craft. Instead on Wednesday of this week she went to sleep for the final time. Not content with leaving her photographs for the world to enjoy, Liz has left her body to medical science. She is determined that others in the future will be able to live out their dreams, that better treatments for Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour will be found. Please help her to achieve that by donating, sharing, liking or commenting: Together we can make sure others have the future that Liz deserved. THIS IS SO PURE AND SWEET~~ lom got herself such a fairytale type of love 🫠🫳🏻🫳🏻 #เสน่หาวาโย *SPOILERS* :) . . . "lom?" the beautiful woman called out the name of the person she shared the house with. however, since she had woken up a little later than usual this morning and wayo hadn't come to wake her, when she got up, she found the house empty. after celebrating with wine last night, she was feeling a bit hungover, but not as much as the sickness caused by the local liquor that had made her feel ill before. "where could she have gone? she didn't leave a note" it had become an unspoken rule between them ever since they had to face the rebels that they always inform each other before going anywhere, so they would always know the other was safe. but today, catherine didn't understand why wayo had broken that rule. if she didn't hear from her, she would have to go look around the house or ask the villagers. "blew" "what are the kids doing here?" "come on, let's go" catherine looked at shasha, who eagerly grabbed her hand, pulling her to walk along. the other children surrounded her, leaving no chance to ask where they were going. having been there for a week, catherine had become close with the children, just as she had with wayo. the kids often invited her and wayo to play or to teach them activities during their free time. "where are we going, shasha?" "it's a secret" the little girl giggled and led her to a resting area on a hill. then she instructed her to stop and wait there, telling her to close her eyes and count in her mind. catherine agreed to follow the instructions, but as she was counting, she heard the sound of children running down the hill. perhaps it was a prank. or maybe just their idea of fun. "you can open your eyes now" "lom! what's going on? don't tell me you planned this with the kids" "yes, i asked the kids to help bring you here" wayo smiled as she appeared to reveal the surprise that had been planned. she had come up with this idea the night before and successfully prepared it with the help of the children early that morning. "don't do that—i woke up, and you were gone. i was worried" "sorry, but i've been with you the whole time. i didn't know when to prepare the surprise. i woke up early today to get ready" in truth, she had spent the whole night planning it, as she had felt a deep desire in their relationship that had been there long before anything had become clear between them. but as they spent every day together, their love grew stronger, making it harder to pull away. wayo wanted to make everything clear, to show catherine that she was committed to their love more than anything. "surprise?" "a flower crown. it might be a little crooked and not as pretty as rose's, but i made it for you" "it's beautiful.." "it's not as beautiful as you—but let me put it on you" catherine nodded and let wayo carefully place the flower crown on her head. she loved the surprise so much that she wanted to take a picture and keep it as a memory. she would treasure the effort of the one she loved, who loved her in return. "but that's not all" "there's more of a surprise?" "do you know, in my eyes, you're always a princess, and you'll always be my princess" "a matching ring?" wayo opened her hand to reveal a simple silver ring, two matching bands that she had found from the local area. they weren't royal diamonds, but every bit of their simplicity held pure love. "even though we've only known each other for a short time, we've been through dangerous situations and life-or-death moments together. we've built so many memories, proving the love we have for each other. i don't know if time matters in love. but i've never once doubted loving you—not even for a moment. i've always been confident in the love i have for you, and from this moment on, i always will be. and if you feel the same, there's one thing i want to ask you right now" "..." "blew, will you marry me?"

Had the most strange night in a LONG time. At midnight, my ring cameras go off at the shop with deputies all over the property... I have no idea what is happening, and it gets insane from there. Moral of the story? You cannot be kind to people any more. A former employee reached out a week ago and asked if his girlfriend (who is like a daughter to me) and his 2 year old daughter could stay with us for a few days. I told him we didn't have room at the house currently, BUT she was welcome to stay in my RV at my shop until we could find her a place. I would make sure she was safe, and taken care of. This young man has been like family since he was 13. I taught him to weld. I have given him vehicles, employed him multiple times, etc. Tried my best to talk him out of the stupid stuff he does. Just petty crimes, fighting, evading police, etc. I have tried for years to get him to just straighten up and be the man I know he could be. Day before yesterday, he tells me he has a warrant out for his arrest and I tell him he cannot stay there with her. I can't have him staying there and getting me involved with whatever shit he had going on. She is welcome to stay, but he can't be there. He lost his mind and called me all sorts of things as he stomped out. Well, last night he decided he was staying there regardless, and when she wouldn't unlock the door, he decided to put his fist through the glass. Drugs destroy people, man. This young man had so much potential and I have tried and tried to get him clean and get him to a good life... Now, we all suffer, and I have to get his girlfriend and little girl away from him before he kills them. Just insane.

When we met Suhail, he was caring for his young niece alone after she witnessed the martyrdom of her mother. She lay beside her mother's body, a trauma no child should ever endure. Support here: Before that day, life was already difficult. She lives with a cleft lip, a heart condition, and brain atrophy. Since losing her mother, she has stopped speaking entirely. The weight of grief and psychological trauma has stolen her voice. Where do we even begin to help? On June 8, The Sameer Project distributed 305 mujaddara meals in Ard Al-Tayeb Camp for $917, including 11% commission. We came to provide food, but meeting this family reminded us that hunger is only one piece of the suffering families in Gaza endure. A hot meal and an additional follow up food parcel can help ease some immediate burdens. But what about cleft lip surgery? What about physiotherapy? Medication? Hygiene support? Psychological care? Who will stand beside this child as she tries to rebuild a sense of safety after witnessing the unimaginable? Because of funding shortages, we have stopped accepting new referrals for individual medical cases. Yet some situations make it impossible to walk away. We cannot see a child struggling and simply do nothing. We do not yet have all the answers. But we will follow up. We will search for every possible avenue of support. Assist by donating to our Medical Campaign: Other ways to donate include: (Paypal option, please make sure to add a message saying "Medical") (Venmo option, please make sure to add a message saying "Medical")

BREAKING: Trump’s ICE goons arrested a 9-year-old tourist WITH A LEGAL VISA on her way to Disneyworld and threw her in a concentration camp for FOUR MONTHS! Little Maria Antonia Guerra Montoya, who lives in Colombia, was overjoyed to be traveling to the Magical Kingdom for a Halloween celebration and spending time with her mom, who is married to a US citizen and applying for a green card. Maria HAD A TOURIST VISA and was only visiting the States for a few days. But when she landed, she was arrested by immigration agents upon landing at the Miami airport and taken into to a room to be interrogated while her mother was taken to a separate room and grilled. “She recalled being asked questions she didn’t know how to answer. As she told Rosenberg, she kept repeating that she could share her name, her birthday, her mother’s name and birthday, and that she was from Colombia, but that was about it,” reports the Miami New Times. Her mother’s cellphone was confiscated and the two were thrown into a holding cell for 42 hours before being put on a plane to Texas, where they were put in the notoriously disgusting ICE concentration camp at Dilley. Nobody would have known she was in there if not for a ProPublica reporter, who interviewed Maria and her mother. A vegetarian who said she ate mostly beans, the young girl recalled that she had fainted twice since arriving at the facility. Her mother described her daughter waking up in the middle of the night, crying, fearful that she would be separated from her mom or never leave detention at all. In a letter, Maria wrote that “being here was my fault… I only wanted to be on vacation like a normal family. I don’t eat well, there is no good education and I miss my best friend julieta and my grandmother and my school I already want to get to my house.” It’s beyond heartbreaking to read. Even one of these stories is enough to boil your blood at the injustice and nihilistic cruelty being visited upon innocent people for no reason at all. To read them day after day after day is almost too much to bear, but we cannot let it numb us. Our anguish must be the whetstone upon which we sharpen our resolve to organize, mobilize, win elections, hold every single one of these motherfuckers accountable for their actions and make sure the victims get the proper restitution. We’re SO SO VERY sorry, Maria. Disneyland has Executives that know Trump and people in Congress. They should speak up for how their CLIENTS are TREATED! Please like and share!

Serika's "Are You Having Fun, Sensei?" from Blue Archive Fes 2026 I love Serika. I've always wanted to work a part-time job at a restaurant or similar, just for the valuable experience, to see things from the other side, but it just seems too intimidating to do alone. With Serika, I'm sure any part-time job would be fun, be it handing out flyers, acting as nighttime security guards, pulling out weeds, cleaning the streets, being an assistant in a convenience store, patrolling the streets at night, delivering milk in the morning, cosplaying as a miko at a Shinto shrine (all part-time jobs she's done before), or simply working at a familiar ramen restaurant. I'd love Serika to show me how she makes ramen! And, obviously, I'd donate all the money that's left after occasionally hanging out with her to the Foreclosure Task Force, to help settle their, or rather our debt. I'd love to be a part of it. You know, in the idol event, Serika asks the girls what they think of her idol outfit. Why not me? Because "I only ever praise her". To which I reply that I'm just speaking my mind. Because it's true. Serika deserves all the praise and compliments she can get. She's a hard-working, kind-hearted and adorable girl. If only she could do something about that naïvety of hers... I can fix her, I swear. We just need to get married first. Okay, I think I'm getting ahead of myself. But it is important to note that she was the First Princess, the Original Cat. After I rescued her from her kidnappers, she got SO flustered when I called her my princess and myself her prince in shining armour! Maybe because it's because she'd already seen me as her prince charming, so me saying it out loud was too much to handle? In any case, calling me "brain dead" was a bit harsh. But it was cute so it's okay. She's cute when she's angry. But that doesn't mean I want her to get angry. I want her to be happy, first and foremost. Maybe as we spend time together, she could gradually accept that my compliments are genuine? I might have to tone them down a notch for that, which is sad, but it's for a greater cause—Serika permitting me to praise her, and by extension accepting all her good qualities. If she hears me call her cute every day, and she knows I mean it, what choice would she have but to realise that she is in fact cute? So yes, I wouldn't want to make her angry, at least not too much. A smile suits her adorable face best, after all.

Light in the Darkness — The Daring Rescue by Puneeth Kerehalli It was 11 o’clock at night… On the outskirts of Bengaluru city, in a small rented house — the door was locked from inside, and outside there was absolute silence. Inside, a young woman was crying… Her eyes trembled with fear, and the phone in her hand was her only ray of hope. Her name — Ananya (name changed). Born in a small town in West Bengal, she had fallen deeply in love. On Instagram, she met a man named “Sumanth,” who seemed like the man of her dreams. But in reality, he was Samaan Ullah — a predator hiding behind a fake identity. His words were sweet, his promises believable, but his intentions were cruel. When he said, “Come to Bengaluru, I’ll marry you,” she thought it was a call from true love. But from the moment she arrived in Bengaluru, her life turned into a nightmare. She was locked in a room, repeatedly abused by four men. In that dark corner of despair, she searched for a glimmer of hope. One night, when the men were drunk and asleep, she gathered her courage, took one of their phones, and with trembling fingers messaged her father on WhatsApp: > “Amma, Appa, I am in danger. Please save me. This is my location.” The moment she sent it, she deleted the message. Her parents were terrified. They didn’t know whom to call for help. For over a month, they had begged the local police to find their missing daughter, but the police kept saying, “She must have eloped.” They had lost faith in the system. One of their relatives suggested seeking help from local Hindu organizations in Bengaluru. That’s when they got a contact — Puneeth Kerehalli. They called him. Puneeth Kerehalli was in his office, engaged in social work. The sudden phone call shook him. “Sir… my daughter is trapped… please save her…” cried the father. Puneeth listened silently, then said firmly, > “Send me the location. We’re leaving right now.” --- A Midnight Mission Begins As soon as the call ended, Puneeth Kerehalli stepped into the darkness — phone in hand, heart full of courage, mind focused on one mission: to save a life. With his team, he sped through the silent streets of Bengaluru on their bikes — the roads dimly lit, danger lurking everywhere. “She must be somewhere around here…” Puneeth said as they turned toward a narrow lane. Finding a house with just a location pin — it was no less than an adventure. Finally, they spotted the house. The door was locked from inside. The air was eerily quiet. Puneeth observed everything carefully, then slowly opened the door. At that moment — amid tears of helplessness, hope flickered in the girl’s eyes for the first time. Trembling, she whispered, > “Did you come to save me?” Puneeth smiled gently. > “Yes. You are safe now.” He safely rescued her and reunited her with her parents. Tears of gratitude streamed down their faces — a moment of relief, courage, and faith reborn. The Dawn of Hope That night, Puneeth Kerehalli and his team didn’t just rescue one young woman — they reignited the faith of an entire community. True heroes shine brightest in the darkest of times. Puneeth Kerehalli’s bravery and swift action remind us all: > “One act of courage can bring light to many lives.” Share this and support Puneeth Kerehalli’s mission. #PuneethKumarNewVideo #PuneethKerehalli #LoveJihad #Bangalore #Karnataka #KarnatakaLoveJihad

Nigerian doctors home and abroad!! Take your flowers Healthcare workers - Take your flowers 🌺 I will take that name of Dr squared today. Let me take our flowers on behalf of the Nigerian doctors! No wonder my hair is all white. Person don read sotey people think I really like reading 😔😒 I like money abeg🤣🤣🤣 Why do you think I never argue with random people online or the ‘real’ doctors that got their MBBS or worse, their ‘dermatology’ degree from a 6 months school?? Lol - It ‘didn’t worth’ it. 6 years of medical school. 1 year of internship 1 year of youth service 6 months of being a medical officer 3 and half years of internal medicine 3 years of Dermatology, venerology and some infectious disease along with rheumatology. (This is me that finished in record time o, much longer for some) Before I became a consultant physician and dermatologist in Nigeria in 2018 and then restarted internal medicine residency in America. I will now be arguing with my ‘senior colleagues’ that did an accelerated course to become a ‘dermatologist’ in 6 months? Do I know who they are?? My seniors?? Ahusubillah minah shaytani rajeem. I have to ask God to keep the spirit of arguing with random people who are my bosses on the internet. Tufiakwa. You will not resuscitate a patient in Nigeria even if he/she was brought in as dead as a door nail? Maidear, you must be joking. You will do CPR o. If you’re smart. Because you’re not sure if they brought ‘boys’ from Mushin or ‘Idi-Araba’ to gently re-arrange your face. Nigerian doctors! Take your flowers please!!! The people that see your silent tears when you lose a patient - like my 39 year old pregnant lady with Toxic epidermal necrolysis that I lost. I remember my husband gathering me up in a tight hug when he heard my racking sobs that seemed to consume me. He prayed along with me while I was taking care of her. I saw her young husband’s face as I prayed and came from home as a consultant even when I was off duty on Sunday. Yet, she still died. The people that see the efforts you put in. The family that write you notes to appreciate you after you contribute your money yet again The patient you did a free procedure for The family you donated blood for their child How many do we want to talk about? You think doctors like to lose patients?? Nigerian doctors and all those health care workers in developing countries Those abroad that continue to give back. I continue to teach about the skin, give free consultations, run an active website with my money, even while not in Nigeria. TAKE YOUR FLOWERS!! AND STOP ARGUING WITH RANDOM PEOPLE ONLINE!!! Finally, paraphrasing a question someone asked me on Facebook, “Which do you think is better?” As someone who had done both residency in Nigeria and abroad, here’s my response. “I’ll tell you it has its advantages. There’s one remarkable thing about the brain. The more it is used, the more it becomes even more receptive. Studies have even shown that the risk of Alzheimer’s is lower in those that ‘ use’their brain more. Lol AI has made everyone not use their brain as often as before and clinical acumen is fast becoming a figment of imagination. Because of all these fancy tests, people have forgotten that they’re supposed to COMPLEMENT and not erase your clinical acumen. I’ll say a mixture of the two is better. It makes you a well seasoned doctor Finally, AI is what you feed in. Garbage in, garbage out if not fed by a smart person. Technology makes a smart person smarter and more effective, and a dumb one to become even more dumb. Because technology is what you make of it.” Copyright ©️ Shakirat Gold-Olufadi
