The U.S. dollar used to be backed by gold — and it’s not farfetched to think we may be headed there again in the future. History shows us that the same cycles repeat time and time again. One such cycle is related to currency devaluation. Once people start to lose trust in the fiat system, we see a specific cause and effect reaction occur. 1) Governments print a lot of money 2) They pay off the debt with the cheap money 3) Nobody wants to hold the devalued currency 4) Governments go back and link money to gold Will this same pattern happen again? It’s hard to say, and it wouldn’t happen anytime soon. But it is conceivable.

Gold is now the second largest reserve currency, behind the US dollar. To understand why, you need to look at the history of fiat currencies (like the dollar) and hard currencies (like gold). The way I see it, we’re currently facing a classic currency devaluation similar to what we saw in the 1970s or the 1930s. In both of those cases, fiat currencies around the world all went down together — and also went down in relationship to hard currencies, like gold. If events today follow a similar pattern, that makes hard currencies an attractive asset to hold. At least, that’s how it looks through my eyes. I’m curious to hear what you think. Master Investor

I see the Nigerian Naira becoming quite stable and I have friends who live in the other OECD countries who want to do transactions with Africa, Nigeria in particular, and they are happy that the stability and predictability of the currency.

The next time you hear someone use the term "fiat currency" and mean it unironically, just ignore them. They have no clue what they're talking about. We haven't used fiat currency in any meaningful way in a hundred years, longer. There is no fractional reserve lending. If you don't even know what money is, how can you claim that you're replacing it? But in order to justify why #BTC keeps going up in price (not usage, just price), they've concocted this fairy tale that the dollar is "being debased" because otherwise they'd have to admit it's only going up because it's a NASDAQ stock. BTC isn't money, it's a tradeable portfolio asset just like Nvidia. Nothing more. And there's nothing wrong with that. BTC and the Euro$ are completely different worlds. BTC doesn't compete with "the dollar", it competes with AI bubble stocks - and therefore trades a lot like them, if you haven't noticed. This is one of those times when the truth is impossible to ignore - "dollar debasement" is being debased not the Euro$. AGAIN.

I have been running a salon for the past 5 years. As I stand here today, I am about to close down, I cannot open my shop every day, and closing it in the evening with losses instead of interest.
