In America we talk endlessly about poverty, but we spend far less time discussing something even more destructive to a child: instability. In the U.S., 11% of kids from families in the bottom income quintile obtain bachelor’s degrees, compared with only 3% of children who have been in foster care. In other words, a poor kid in the U.S. is nearly 4 times more likely to graduate from college than a foster kid. From my talk at University of Austin (UATX)

We were in Alaska last summer when a chef at the Lodge at Well Pass handed me a jar. She had poured live sourdough starter into it that morning. She told me to put it in my checked luggage. 🦊 : u think u did something wrong to us, but i want to tell you that, u don't have to keep carrying that burden. it's all in the past now & the members are always on your side. honestly, since then i started worrying a lot, but since this year he's become so positive, so i don't really worry anymore. 🐿️ : i'm totally fine now, but every so often it comes to my mind & there was times there was a little bit of burden. because i can't erase who i was then, so there were definitely moments that weighed on me. however, after hearing what i.n said to me today, i feel like i got a lot of them off my shoulders, it makes me feel like i can keep going & doing even better.

I saw Trump’s speech saying that when a public school tells a child they’re trapped in the wrong body, it is child abuse. I agree 100%—but I would take it further. It isn’t only telling a child their body is wrong. Affirming a child’s belief that something is wrong with their healthy body can also be deeply harmful. And it should not be applied only to public schools. My daughter said her body was wrong while she was in high school. Her teachers and counselor affirmed that narrative. At college, her friends and professors continued to affirm it. Someone even suggested emancipation from her family. DCF got involved and they did agree that my child’s body was wrong. Did you watch Donald J. Trump's interview with Bret Baier? What did you make of it? I may be wrong. I have been wrong many times. Besides, I am not qualified to advise anyone on planet Earth since I am often unable to advise myself. But, if I were Trump, I would not waste time granting interviews on classified documents since the case is in court. Every interview may simply be used as a trap. An indictment is made up of alarming allegations that can crumble in court. Trying to argue your case in the media is a waste of time and an easy way to give ammunition to your opponents and prosecutors. Once a question on classified documents is brought up, politely say that since the case is in court, you have been advised not to discuss it and then bring your best defense in court; the case will then crumble there. But who am I? I am just an observer, and I am not qualified to advise anyone, nor am I interested in advising anyone. However, it's my little belief that any campaign manager or lawyer who advises their client to grant interviews on a case that is in court, a case that is being seen as politically motivated, may not be doing a great job. But, again, I may be wrong; I have been wrong many times in the past, and I may be wrong again here. May God help us.
