Oregonians aren’t tired of Trump “attacking” the state. They’re tired of you. You declared a homelessness state of emergency on your first day in 2023 and have extended it multiple times through 2027. HUD data shows Oregon’s overall homelessness rose 18.9% from 2024 to 2025, reaching more than 27,200 people on a single night. Your self imposed goal of 36,000 new housing units a year remains unmet, actual production fell to 14,621 units in a recent year, below the level before you took office. On drugs, Measure 110 turned hard drug possession into a citation while treatment capacity lagged. Fatal opioid overdoses climbed from 280 in 2019 to 1,394 in 2023 and peaked at 1,833 that year before you signed the 2024 recriminalization bill. Public drug use and street disorder became daily realities in Portland and beyond. Education numbers are just as grim. Chronic absenteeism sits at 33% among the highest in the nation and well above the roughly 21% average in reporting states. Only about 40% of third graders are proficient in reading. Test scores remain near the national bottom despite higher per pupil spending and one of the shortest school years in the country. Meanwhile private sector job growth ranks near last nationally, unemployment runs above the U.S. average, and you forced through a special session transportation package that ranked as the largest tax increase in state history. Businesses and high earners keep leaving. You don’t “fight for Oregon’s values.” You defend the progressive experiment that produced these results. Keep the slogans. Working Oregonians are still living with the camps, the overdoses, the empty storefronts, and the kids who can’t read. 🇺🇸 🐺
