@dhh I’d only push back on the idea that the computer becomes yours once you can shape the desktop. The real ownership starts when those agents have explicit permissions, state, and repeatable workflows instead of just a custom interface.

Hermes OS is running on Linux I’ve been working on the desktop, app launcher, and separate spaces for Personal, Work, and Ideas. It’s coming together, and I’m honestly thrilled with how well it’s running. Files, memory, missions, and automations, with Hermes right there in the workspace. The idea is simple: I want to tell my computer what I need and have Hermes help me get it done, while still having my apps and desktop available. Loop engineering is great until something breaks. Here is how I improve the reliability of my agentic loops. I use human-in-the-loop (HITL). It's easy and extremely effective. Anyone can build this. My setup: I recorded a quick demo of how it all works. I shared recently that I now use more voice agents to build and communicate with agents. I also use them to verify. I hate the idea of being tied down to my computer or in a Slack channel to communicate with my agents. Here is what I have done to streamline communication with my agents. All my Claude and Codex agent sessions now use the Dial MCP server. It has a bunch of tools and provisions my agents with their own number that can place calls as native tools, with voice, SMS, and iMessage behind one interface. As my loops/automations work on PRs and new features, my agents escalate decisions to me via a short phone call. This is extremely useful when I am on the road or away from my desk. If you want to try this with Claude Code or Codex, paste this into your agent and get started right away: "Get yourself a Dial phone number and call me. Coolest project ever. Built my own cyberdeck I bought this Japanese digital typewriter a few days ago. It’s just a keyboard with a word processor on it. Hacked it and installed Linux. Then connected it to my Mac throuh SSH Now it runs Claude Code, Codex, and Hermes on the go 0 browser. 0 social media. 0 distractions. Can work on all my projects on this cool little device that nobody knows what it is Anywhere I am I can pull out my cyberdeck and vibe code or give commands to my agents I’m really in love with minimalistic devices that allow you to do cool futuristic things with 0 distractions. Was an awesome weekend project. Highly recommend everyone tries building their own cyberdeck Just take any devices you have, connect them to a computer with Claude code, and ask how you can install your own custom software on there to do whatever you want I bet you can turn a lot of older devices you already have into a cyberdeck

I’ve been using AI to help my decision-making for over 30 years. It’s a big part of what made Bridgewater successful. I found that if I wrote down my criteria for making decisions and put them into algorithms, the computer could process far more information far more quickly than I could on my own. Alongside my logic and inspiration, it was a great partnership. I started doing this in my investment decision-making, but soon incorporated it into my broader decision-making, as well. (By the way, that investment decision-making is what made Bridgewater so successful.) LLMs have made this process even more seamless and useful.

People - even my parents and my significant other - call me crazy for putting all my eggs in one basket. But I’ve never believed in spreading myself thin just to feel safe. Just like the investing greats said… “diversification is for the know-nothing investor.” I’m all-in on Tesla bc I’ve done the work. I understand what I own, why I own it, and where it’s going. I prefer to put all my eggs in one basket and in my opinion for me, this is playing it safe.
