Why Brian still obsesses over recruiting: "Sam Altman (Sam Altman) told me you're going to spend 50% of your time on hiring. I never did. It was my death blow. As a leader, you can choose if you want to spend time hiring or managing. The more time you spend on recruiting, the less time you get to spend on management. The first and last call I make every day is the recruiting team, still. I probably spend two, three hours on it every day. The 2000s, I didn't. I thought it was all about having a recruiting machine, managing people. The great thing is I don't manage as much anymore because the really good people are self managing. People should think about their first employee being a recruiter, not an engineer. Because they are the ones that get you every other person. A company is as good as its people. Everyone is up-in-arms over the Matt Rife comedy special. Every time a comedian comes under fire, this is what I wish I could scream from the rooftops: You’re allowed to speak about what you find to be “inappropriate” comedy, but just understand that—in this instance—you almost always sound annoying to everyone else in the room. You sound like every other person who’s ever complained about how we “shouldn’t joke about that.” In this instance, there’s nothing special, moving, or compelling about your voice. If a joke fails with an audience, a joke fails. If it fails repeatedly, it’s probably either not funny or not delivered well. If it’s not funny, it shouldn’t be told. But at a COMEDY show, that’s literally the only reason to censor yourself—because what you were gonna say was overwhelming not funny—not because it “wasn’t appropriate.” If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen, snowflakes. *and no, this isn’t me saying I thought the joke—or the special (which I haven’t seen)—was funny.

Even though we say we created a “company,” we just used that word because it’s easier for people to understand. But in the end, it’s not really about the company, it’s about the people. Like, who you work with. And what kind of experiences you share with them, that’s what really matters the most. So with these people, whether we go, volunteering or travel somewhere, we always move together as one group. Because if not and later on, when I write and release a song, if we hadn’t shared those experiences, I’d have to explain everything. Like, “I went somewhere and had this kind of experience…” But since we’ve all lived it together, I can just say, “Hey, I wrote this kind of song this time,” and they’ll be like, “Oh, yeah, I get it. I know exactly what that is.” It just makes everything so much faster, right?”

It got you somewhere" "But now? Working hard? What does that get you?" "There is probably no one in the world who would like to see the war end and peace come as much as the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian military. But we don't dream of peace at any cost, because then these three years will be in vain. We are fighting here not only for our land. We are fighting not only for our families. We are fighting not only for our state. The most important thing for us is values. Values pushed us to fight the enemy. The values of freedom, the desire to live in our own country, the values of being human beings, not slaves. A human being’s first instinct is survival. You cannot fight for Kenyans when you are dead. Give kasmuel a chance to tell you his story. I know the story but its not mine to tell. Many times we smile for the cameras but deep inside is alot of pain. Imagine sacrificing your job, your family, your business and your safety for Kenyans but they end up calling you a conman or a project without evidence. Just because you have told them that tribal identity is not a qualification for leadership. Just because you have told them that corruption cannot solve corruption. That is the pain I go through everyday but I just keep fighting. I will not stop. Even if you bring all the negative comments in this world to my post, am fighting to the dying end. Call me a liar a conman a thief a project a traitor, anything. Am never going back. You may not join me today. But with time your conscience will be clearer and your spirit will lead you this way.
