I was extremely successful in my career, the bread winner. I’ve been married 28 years and have two wonderful grown men as sons. My most important and rewarding part of my life was being wife and mom, everything he said was wonderful and not offensive people need to chill.

Amen amen amen! I thought he did a great job! Women should absolutely not be ashamed to stay home with their kids. I was blessed to work from home and still do. We are conditioning women that they are not successful unless it’s outside the home.

The venue of a commencement is the problem. He can have his own opinions, but foisting them on a captive audience, especially to females who had just completed their education, where uplifting hopeful and congratulatory messages were expected, was a poor choice.

He got a standing ovation from the audience.

The “Catholic” message would be better received if he talked of the responsibilities of MEN & WOMEN when balancing career & family . . . fidelity, children, faith, community, etc. But, to say women will be MORE FULFILLED as mothers was condescending.Whether he meant to or not.

He actually did talk about men’s responsibility and how his wife keeps him on track. He wept with gratitude for his wife!

@PatriciaHeaton My experience? The Bible is used more to point out the sins of others or rationalize one’s own beliefs rather than to understand, accept or forgive others. I am no longer a practicing Catholic, but thankful to those who taught me the New Testament and focused on Jesus’ word. ❤️

They are so offended because, in Tim Keller's words, they have an identity that is so fragile that it falls apart if anyone fails to affirm it. Those who are esteemed by Him how they most esteem have the esteem of an identity that is impervious to criticism.

They will not calm down until everyone agrees with them or (their preferred choice) everyone else is silenced and sent to catacombs to pray out of sight.

I can’t tell you how many women cry when they realized they had to back and leave their babies. All of not 99% cried their day back to school. And those had 3pm dismissals. So being home for as long as you can before they go to school is great for moms and babies.

Yes, he got a standing ovation, but many hard working female graduates said his speech ruined their graduation. His speech was misogynistic and homophobic. You don’t have daughters, right? I do and she’ll be a physician as of Friday. Our family loved the Middle! 🙂

Harrison Butker was speaking from his heart & his experience. Many woman can’t pause their career to raise children for so many different reasons. Butker is right, Mom at home is a difficult job. I raised 4 volunteering for everything & went on to have a career as well. All good!

The ridiculous overreaction to his speech only confirms what the “PC” and “woke” ideology does to a society. We become more intolerant and less likely to appreciate differing opinions. We miss opportunities to learn and grow because we focus only on that with which we disagree.
