some people have pointed out that even AAA games don't show a death animation with a bottomless pit, which is fair enough. but what got me experimenting with this whole jump to pit thing was a jump earlier in the same area, where you have a fairly high tower but you can still see the ground. and if you make a jump to your death the game just abruptly teleports you back to a checkpoint, no body landing in the same rendered area. no ragdoll, no nothing. the game feels very undercooked. it needed at least one more year imo.
