During training, you visit many of the facilities that will eventually play a role in your mission. Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A was one of them. This visit felt different. Standing at the base of the tower and looking up, I was reminded that this is the very place from which Neil Armstrong and his crewmates began their journey to the Moon. The facility has evolved over the decades and has been modernized for a new era of spaceflight, but it still carries the weight of its history. You can feel it. Then there is the elevator. Inside, there are only two buttons: Earth and Space. A simple design choice, perhaps, but one that feels remarkably profound when launch day finally arrives. What you see here is me at the top of the launch pad, with the Falcon 9 yet to make its way out. The rocket is transported to the pad horizontally and then raised to a vertical position before launch. Standing there, it was impossible not to imagine the events that would soon unfold. Dragon Launch Escape Initiated During the launch escape test, where SpaceX intentionally destroyed an entire rocket to prove its safety, Dragon was fed the normal launch sequence for an ISS mission. Dragon wasn’t told to escape, but its onboard autonomous flight computers noticed the loss of thrust on Falcon before the Merlin engines could even fully shut down. Once Dragon realized there was a mission critical anomaly, it instantly initiated the launch escape sequence firing all 8 SuperDraco thrusters, separating explosive bolts on the second stage, and took autonomous control of the mission, in less time than any human reaction on the ground or in the capsule could of realized. Falcon, the crew, Dragon, and the ground can all initiate an escape if required. Although this test was uncrewed (meaning nobody was on the rocket during the test), if there was a life threatening emergency that would put the mission at risk, Dragon could leave and get out of the situation immediately.

King Alfred Tower is one of many “follies” built in Britain. Follies are those buildings erected by the upper classes during the heights of British power for the sole purpose of displaying wealth and entertaining friends. This particular folly was built to celebrate a victory by the Saxon, King Alfred, over the Danes in 878 AD, and is the legendary site where the King raised his standard prior to the battle. This tower was mentioned in a poem by the British poet, Thomas Hardy, in his poem entitled “The Channel Firing” written in 1914 AD. Damage to the tower occurred during World War II when an American plane crashed into it, severely damaging the upper 10 meters of the structure. The turret was repaired in 1986 with a helicopter, which was used to lower the new cone onto the tower. Today visitors can once again climb the stairs to the viewing platform at the top. Built by the Hoare banking family, the triangular tower is constructed from over one million red bricks and stands 50m in height. There is a room in Málaga that was built to be the closest thing on earth to standing inside heaven. It is called the camarín of the Virgin of Victory, and it is hidden at the top of a tower inside the Santuario de la Victoria. To reach it, you climb and the ascent is the entire point... The building you are climbing through was completed in 1700, and it was designed as a single argument made in stone. At the bottom lies a crypt: a black chamber crowded with white plaster skeletons, a meditation on death and the brevity of life. From there a staircase rises, and as you climb it the light grows stronger and the imagery changes from bones to saints. The architects of the time understood this ascent as the soul's own journey, the dark crypt as the stage of penitence, the staircase as the stage of spiritual progress, and the room at the very top as the final stage: the union of the soul with the divine. That room at the top is the camarín, and its dome is one of the most extraordinary interiors in Spain... Every surface is covered in white and gold plasterwork. There is no empty space anywhere. The Baroque called this horror vacui, the horror of the void: the conviction that a space meant to represent heaven should not contain a single bare patch of stone. Out of that plasterwork emerge angels, flowers, birds, and mirrors. The mirrors are not decoration alone. They catch the light pouring in through the windows of the drum and throw it around the chamber, so that the gold seems to move and the whole room appears to shimmer and breathe. This wonder was built by people who believed that if you wanted to show a human being what heaven might feel like, you did not describe it to them. Centennial High School graduation in Franklin, Tennessee was held outdoors despite heavy rain and lightning Weather is known in advance so the caroming could have been moved indoors but school officials had a “Rain or Shine” Policy so the Pre-Set Plans had to move ahead They knew the rain was coming but thought they could get the ceremony done before the rain and didn’t want to move the ceremony into the gym. From what I could find they didn’t know if everyone would fit They even had a backup plan incase it rained Staff indicated that if it rained on Thursday, they’d try again Friday and go indoors if needed then. They stuck with the original Thursday plan rather than moving it to Friday Many parents and attendees were extremely frustrated, calling it unsafe due to the lightning strikes. They were disappointing because it was such a milestone

there is so much real data just sitting in the open right now it's almost funny. four years of starlight on every star, a NASA archive that's been free for over a decade, detectors still recording the sky tonight, and barely anyone has a net pointed at any of it. so i pointed one. this is me pulling the planet data, the data loading is the boring part. the net i built to read it, the wall it hit, and what that taught me about where AI goes next, that's the full story, and it drops tonight. the data's public, the tools are free, the box fits on a desk. what's stopping you. you can just do things anon.

If you think pre season is a joke then you have no idea how difficult it is for players to stay in shape and most of this training are connected to how the team wants to play during the season. This is what the first few days in the pre season looks like and medicals like blood test, flexibility check, mobility test, VO2Max test, and the heart test to see if the heart is healthy. My personal view on pre season test is that I hated the VO2Max test and if you are not fit enough the pass the test which usually last for just 15 minutes. When I was at Vitesse Arnhem and Red star Belgrade my medicals took 3days to be completed and it was the longest I ever had. If you don't take your off season trainings seriously you will be exposed on the first day of pre season test and you will be in trouble with the coach.

For Vertigo they tried different effects and finally it was arrived at by a combination of a dolly shot and a zoom lens crossing each other. Dollying in and zooming out. When the head of special effects came to me I said how much was it going to cost. He said $50,000 to put a camera high and take it up and zoom it, because of the enormous rig. About fourteen years ago, someone in Russia filmed a crow on a snowy rooftop. The bird had found a plastic jar lid, the kind you’d peel off a jar of mayonnaise, and was using it as a sled. It would hop on, ride the lid down the slope of the roof flapping its wings for balance, pick the lid up in its beak at the bottom, fly back to the top, and go again. The shot was taken from a high-rise window across the way, so you see the whole roof. And here’s the thing the video didn’t show. The snow on the roof already had several tracks down it before the camera switched on. The crow had been doing this for a while before anybody noticed. A behavioural scientist who looked at the clip pointed out what was actually happening. The lid hadn’t blown up there. The bird had carried it. Found it somewhere on the ground, recognised it as useful, flown it onto a roof, and worked out the best line down. That’s tool use, planning, and play in one creature. In one of the longer clips, the crow eventually flies off still carrying the lid, like it’s a possession worth keeping. Crows are in the corvid family, with ravens, magpies, and jays. In one of the longer clips, the crow eventually flies off still carrying the lid, like it’s a possession worth keeping. Crows are in the corvid family, with ravens, magpies, and jays. JUST IN: One dead and 2 injured after a crane fell on the bridge over the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The bridge also sustained significant damage as the crane appeared to leave a sizable hole. The two vehicle drivers reportedly survived the accident however someone under the bridge was killed. "The big crane was falling down, and it looked like when it hit the bridge, it broke in part," a witness told 7News. "There is a portion of the crane near the construction site and the other one that hit the bridge bounced off the Tesla and then bounced up and hit the van."

On April 26th, 2026, the Japan Meteorological Agency's Himawari-8 satellite captured a full day of Earth.
