He lamented what he described as a lack of urgency from motorists and pedestrians in making way during such emergency situations. In Canada, a cat was trapped inside a house during a fire. Firefighters entered the house to rescue the cat, but no matter what they did, the cat wouldn’t come out. Instead, it meowed at a firefighter and tried to lead him toward the kitchen. A Delta Air Lines flight from Savannah, Georgia, to Atlanta was forced to turn back Sunday night due to engine trouble, which sparked a large grass fire near the airport runway. Delta flight 1067, a Boeing 737-900, had just taken off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport around p.m. Sunday when the pilot declared an emergency. VICTIM RESCUED AFTER 7-HOUR TECHNICAL CLIFF RESCUE AT DEAD MAN’S POINT SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The San Francisco Fire Department has completed a 7-hour technical cliff rescue at Dead Man’s Point in Land’s End, Presidio. As a United States Coast Guard helicopter arrived, dense fog returned, making air rescue unsafe. With the cliff perch becoming increasingly unstable, SFFD rescue technicians developed a controlled plan with the victim in mind. The victim slid down the cliff face in a controlled descent and landed on the shoreline sustaining minor injuries. SFFD rescue swimmers were staged in the water and immediately assisted the adult victim through heavy surf to a waiting SFFD rescue boat. Rescue swimmer Paramedics evaluated and treated the victim who was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One SFFD rescue swimmer sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the emergency room. The firefighter is expected to make a full recovery. This rescue was conducted in extreme terrain and severe weather. Crews faced: - Steep cliffside terrain with loose, unstable rock - Unstable cliffside/perch that deteriorated during the operation, creating a fall hazard for the victim and rescuers - Dense fog and changing weather that reduced visibility to near zero and repeatedly grounded air operations - Heavy brush limiting access and anchor points - Challenging surf conditions on the shoreline during extraction SFFD thanks all partner agencies for their support during this complex incident: San Francisco Police Department drone unit, United States Park Police, United States Coast Guard, and all collaborating agencies.

Relief and rescue operations are continuing in close coordination with the NDRF, SDRF, civil administration and other agencies to assist the affected population. The Army has deployed seven Relief and Rescue Columns, including Engineer and Medical teams, across the affected areas. At present, two columns are deployed in Navsari, one in the Valsad–Vapi region, three in Ahmedabad, covering Ahmedabad Town, Ahmedabad Rural and the Ahmedabad–Rajkot Highway, and one column is operating in Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli. In addition, addl Relief and Rescue Columns remain on standby at key locations, including Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar to facilitate immediate response to any emerging contingency. Since the commencement of operations, Army teams have undertaken continuous rescue and relief missions in inundated and inaccessible areas, safely evacuating 355 stranded civilians so far. Rescue operations have often been carried out under challenging conditions, including the evacuation of civilians trapped for prolonged durations in flooded buildings and isolated habitations. Medical teams have provided immediate healthcare to those requiring assistance, while relief teams have distributed food, drinking water and other essential supplies to affected residents awaiting evacuation or restoration of normal connectivity. The operations are being executed in seamless coordination with the civil administration, National and State Disaster Response Forces, Police and other stakeholders to ensure timely rescue, relief and humanitarian assistance across the affected districts.

The damage so far has been concentrated along the river corridor from Hamilton County and the northern Indianapolis suburbs. Farther east in Delaware County, sheriff's deputies on Friday found the body of a 58-year-old woman who they believe died after trying to drive through floodwaters.
