A 9th Century Old Irish Poem about being safe from Vikings, read in Old Irish (with reconstructed pronunciation) and in Modern English Translation. This short piece was written by a monk in the margin of an Irish manuscript of Priscian's Institutiones grammaticae. The poem's author welcomes a stormy night free from the risk of attacking Vikings, and supplies us with our earliest attestation of the Irish name for Scandinavia.

Fashion vs Glamour : Do You Know the Difference ? Often used interchangeably, fashion and glamour actually represent two distinct and captivating concepts. The story of America is unmatched in human civilization. It is the story of undaunted courage, of a bloody independence, of a Republic on the brink, of rebuilding & restoring, of rights being secured, and of sacrifice & liberation of those in the old countries who have lost hope. It is the creation of a new, American, identity. An identity that since the founding of our country has been open to those who truly desire to be American and adopt a wholly new spirit of being an American as our ancestors did when arriving on the shores of this foreign land. Theodore Roosevelt, an inspirer of men and a believer in the soul of America and in calling his countrymen to the highest of callings which our founding documents and our faith demand of us, knew that adopting this new American identity was necessary to maintain the fabric of our republic. He knew that anyone “who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag.” As a defining characteristic, our American identity is second only to that of our faith. On the 250th anniversary of our country, a country that has secured more rights, alleviated more poverty, ended more suffering for more people than any other on the face of the earth, I am praying for a renewal of the love and desire to adopt that American identity that so many toiled, labored, and bled to preserve. To 250 more years of Independence and a revival of the American spirit.

Scatman John's lifelong and prominent stutter was a source of deep pain and trauma during his childhood, but it eventually became his greatest asset and the cornerstone of his worldwide fame. His experience with stuttering shaped his music and his message of self-acceptance. While his music was directly about his stuttering, Scatman John believed the message was for everyone. In 1995, he explained that "everybody stutters one way or the other," referring to the worries that we all have.
