They also earlier stood there for some idle chit chat when the door opened in the house exposing the way out. The equivalent of the “villain monologue” trope. They could have had a chance, but then Vecna shows up and Will has to save them from death. You don’t have that scene, barely surviving, and then have them take even longer for some chit chat and exposition. BTW: When Holly says she doesn’t have a boyfriend because she is too young, why not have her focus on her parents? Her mother almost died trying to save her. And SO DID HER DAD, which literally no one cares about or even mentions. She could have focused on them, celebrating heroic parenting. It is absolutely bizarre that Mr. Wheeler fought a demogorgon with a 7-iron to protect his family, is in a coma, and not a single person in Hawkins — let alone his wife and children — care at all whether he is alive or dead. They have literally never mentioned him once.

I also feel like she was talking kinda to the audience because a lot of people thought of this scene in s4 as running away from depression and now the message is that sometimes when you feel like you’re all alone you just need to find the strength of thinking of your loved ones

While the entrance to this room was from the cave. Im skeptical that vecna couldn't still just enter this room at will. He's been here before. Just because they came from a different passage doesnt feel like it means he has to when this is his brain.

Max still walked after Holly separated from her. Ridiculous. They could have done this scene much more effectively with just a little more sense of urgency. Direction/pacing was way off for all 3 of these episodes.

It's just the timing and placement of this conversation. This could have been something said and done 3 hours ago on their journey you wait until the literal time to leave to say "you can't come, gotta find your own way" that's stupid writing
