It's great such videos are being made to increase awareness about health insurance, and its features. Unfortunately, there are too many errors, misinformation: 1. Hospitals do not have any incentive in deducting money from you - like the room rent limit thing. This cannot be removed by the hospital from the claim. If there is a wrong room rent limit applied, you will have to talk to the insurer. 2. IRDAI does not have any control over what hospitals charge. So whether a hospital charges consumables separately (standard practice) is a hospitals call. There is a separate consumables add on you can choose to save this 3-5% of the bill amount. 3. "Phone lagau, insurance company ko" - This sounds as if insurers control hospitals, or regulate them. Hospitals care two hoots about insurers, tbh. Since there is no regulator, what actually works is "Give it to me in writing" - or escalating to their management or social media.

Hospitals won't listen to all this. Either u pay up, ask for a discount or fight in court later. Indian rules/laws don't apply for common citizens. Get Real!

A big shoutout to .@HDFCERGOGIC for their thorough investigation and inspection which helps customers. In two instances they forced hospitals to reduce the amount and approved only what is necessary. Making us pay just a few thousands. Yes hospitals do try to make money by fooling us.
