Jack got tips from a Job Interview article in the January 1978 Playgirl Magazine he was reading before the interview. Which begs the question: Did Jack bring the magazine in with him? Or was it guest reading material in the Overlook's lobby. More questions than answers!

For as much as he’s famous for playing over the top crazy characters, Jack Nicholson is capable of great suitability on the screen.

Notice the quick glances directly into the camera. Why did he do that? Knowing how meticulous Kubrick was, it was intentionally done.

Also the bit where he shits on Wendy for breaking his concentration. And when he tells Danny he would never hurt him. Not to mention the bartender scene, but that's a more obvious one.
